My wife and I were booked last-minute to Penrose (because of a slip-up at another area B&B) and the owners were wonderfully accommodating. They told us all about area attractions, cooked us a fine breakfast, and had a charming collection of old instruments, including a pump organ and a melodion (which they let me play). The only possible downside for... More

My wife and I stayed at the Penrose Inn on our way to visit our children in the Boston area. We were familiar with the Northampton area and decided to break up our trip with an overnight stay. I was unfamiliar with B&B's in the area and found The Penrose Inn through Trip Advisor. We had a delightful stay. Dick... More

We arrived at Penrose Inn for an overnight in the Northampton area. We were greeted by Dick and taken to our room. The Inn itself seemed a little overdecorated, as was our room. I'm not someone who likes a lot of stuff everywhere. After that we were left to ourselves until breakfast. It was an unseasonably warm weekend and both... More

We are sorry that several things did not meet your expectations. We certainly would have offered coffee, tea and refreshments any time if requested. Most of our guests are gone for the day with activities and often return late. Over time we have found our guests like and bring their own shampoos and lotions, and even their own soaps on... More

We enjoyed our Thanksgiving weekend at the Penrose Inn while visiting our daughters in their college state. They joined us at the Inn and we had a blast. I particularly enjoyed our breakfast gatherings. It was such a pleasant experience. Dick and Nancy really love what they do and it shows. The Inn was decorated for Christmas and it put... More

Dick and Nancy were fabulous hosts and took very good care of us on our one-night birthday stay. The accomodations were comfortable and the decor very Victorian and romantic! We wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely return, hopefully for two nights!

We stayed for for the second time at the Penrose. This time we were in the Painted Lady Room. There were lots of nice touches like plenty of light to read by and plenty of hangers for my clothes. The bathroom was enormous. The bed was extremely comfortable. The entire Inn is decorated beautifully with a mixture of antiques, collectibles,... More

The Penrose is a lovely home in every way. We had a bright sunny spacious room in beautiful surroundings (The Eleanor Purrington room) with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was delicious and our innkeepers were extremely gracious then and during the entire stay. Northhampton was an easy 10 minutes away with many great restaurants and unique places to visit and... More

The hosts made us feel so welcome! They cook a beautiful breakfast each morning. The rooms are large and beautiful, with very comfortable beds, and large updated bathrooms. We loved that the Inn was out in the country but just a 10 minute drive to Northampton with great restaurants and shopping, and close to the 5 colleges. We usually stay... More

This was a brilliant find, we loved it. We received a great welcome from Dick and Nancy, nothing was too much trouble for them and we loved being immersed in the whole Victorian ambiance. Being from the UK we are very used to visiting Victorian houses, but we can usually only look and not touch. At the Penrose, we were... More

If you need a place to stay in the Amherst/Northampton area this is the place. The hosts are very accommodating and the bed is so comfortable (bridal suite) you will never want to leave. Definitely give this place a try if you are in the area.
