As my husband and I were on the boat heading over to Smith Island, I questioned who would want to go to such an isolated place. But Tylerton, Smith Island, and specifically the Inn of Silent Music, is a gem. If you are looking for a lot to do, then don’t go to Tylerton (or anywhere on Smith Island, for... More

My husband and I spent 3 days in October here. The innkeepers, Rob and Linda Kellogg, were very accommodating and helpful in sharing about their unique island. Maybe the food was the best part. The breakfast was always unique and scrumptious. There was always a basket of granola bars in the living room for snacking between meals. Dinner, not included,... More

We weathered a Nor'easter at this pleasant inn, so we didn't get to go biking or kayaking as we had hoped. But from our comfortable second floor room overlooking the water, we had a very restful weekend reading, eating, napping and eating somemore. And the food was not only delicious, but healthy as well. Innkeepers Linda and Rob are wonderful,... More

Smith Island, off the coast of Maryland and about an hour's boat trip from Crisfield, is actually three islands - Tylerton, Ewell, and Rhodes Point. A trip there is a step back in time, to when fishing villages were a way of life for many people. Tylerton is unique in today's world in that the people there live in some... More

If you are looking for a quiet, scenic place, you will love this place. The inn itself was very nice, very comfortable. The food, seafood, is as good as it gets. We were blown away by the meals, and the caring, attention to detailed hosts, Rob and Linda, and of course Jazmine the dog. During our weekend stay,we were treated... More

This is a very diffierent type of vacation, not for everyone but if you are looking for quiet, beautiful views and love being on the water, this place is great. Not to mention the gourmet cuisine-I will never eat crabs anywhere else again but in Md. they were so good. Rob and Linda (and their dog Jasmine) are wonderful hosts... More

My husband & I went there for a reconnection weekend. I had never been on a boat before and was uncomfrotable about doing this but Capt. Jason was great- very friendly, knowledgeable, and was a pro. On the way over, we met our future rommates that were also staying there. Very interesting group to me as I am a quilter... More

I am a musician who was in need of quiet; hence, I was inexorably drawn to a place called "The Inn of Silent Music." I was lodged in the Sassafras Room, a very pretty room on the first floor, with a window that opened onto the porch. I relaxed amidst the sound of seagulls and the fragrance of salt air... More

Smith Island is like no other place on earth. It is a "look back in time" to a way of life that is fast fading, the life of a Chesapeake Bay water community that lives and dies by "the catch." The people we met were fascinating, and there is a good little museum that documents the history of the island... More

The Inn is comfortable and we had a lovely room, however, be warned that there is NOTHING to do here, unless you plan on kayaking or paying for a fishing or crabbing expedition. You can see the entire town in ten minutes, and there are no beaches or even anyplace to hike. Great if you're just in the mood to... More
