I recently stayed at the Newcastle Inn in April and May and loved the accommodations and the great breakfasts. I've been staying at the Newcastle Inn for several years and always look forward to my return stays. It's wonderful to anticipate the clean, comfortable, and beautiful rooms and the courtesy and friendliness of Julie, the innkeeper. I particularly enjoy its... More

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts about your recent visits to Newcastle Inn. I am happy to hear that Newcastle Inn is able to provide the relaxing place that you need after a busy day of activities. Yes, it is a quieter, slower pace here in Newcastle/Damariscotta, but there is plenty to see and do, as... More

I've stayed at the Newcastle Inn four times over the last few years and have always had a good experience. All of my trips have been for business, but this last time, I stayed an extra two nights to treat myself to a some post-holiday R&R. Damariscotta is such a charming town- it's the perfect place for it! Julie has... More

Thank you for your comments. You are correct in that this old house isn't as soundproofed as a newly constructed property would be. As rooms are worked on and updated we are putting insulation and sound proofing material in where we can. Like you, I always travel with a set of earplugs. If you ever forget yours, I also have... This is a beautiful,well-maintained inn conveniently located next to the charming coastal town of Damariscotta, Maine approx. 3 hour drive north of Boston. The water view, lovely rooms, and friendly/helpful innkeeper, Julie, made my stay restful, relaxing and fun. I felt as if I were visiting a kind relative who made a great breakfast. In my room were a fireplace,... More

I have no idea what the other reviewers are talking about when they give this place good reviews! Julie was insincere and not interested in having any guests at her place over the holidays. Truthfully, I felt unwelcome as if I were an inconvenience to her day! I did not have any choice in the matter where I was staying... More

This reservation was made by, and paid for, by the business that hired this guest. It was understood and approved that if any guest would be leaving prior to the 8:00 start of breakfast, that an assortment of granola bars, fruit bars, trail mix, etc. were available for guests to take with them along with coffee, tea and hot cocoa.... Couldn't have asked for a better stay. Julie was most welcoming and the meals were wonderful. She also provided us with great recommendations with what to visit while we were there. Highly recommended.

Our Sept, 2011 stay was everything we hoped for. The Newcastle Inn is charming, spacious and spotless with beautifully appointed rooms & common areas. We enjoyed relaxing on the deck overlooking the water's edge and inviting gardens. We've stayed here several times and on this trip enjoyed the Owls Head suite which was very roomy with a sitting area &... More

Our October stay at the Newcastle Inn was lovely. What a charming place! From the welcoming atmosphere to the soft sheets and great pillows we knew our comfort was importnat there. The breakfasts were not only deliscious but a visual treat as well. I look forward to returning, and highly recommend it.

Not the cheapest by any means but superb and worth every penny. A warm welcome and tour of the Inn preceded being shown to our room (West Quoddy Suite) and what a room. Beautifully decorated with lovely touches and very spacious with a separate sitting area and deluxe bathroom with separate shower. The small nearby town is an easy 10/15... More

The problem with getting 5-star reviews is that the expectations can be set too high. Such is the case of The Newcastle Inn. After reading the gushing, over-the-top reviews here, I booked a two night stay for the Mrs. and me. Even said to a coworker the night before our trip, "This better be the best thing since sliced bread... More

My husband and I love the coast of Maine and, in particular, the Damariscotta-Newcastle area. How happy we were to find a lovely, traditional B&B within walking distance of downtown Damariscotta! Despite the proximity to town, the Inn is situated in a tranquil garden setting on the banks of the river. Julie and her staff uphold the highest traditions of... More
