My family stayed here during Christmas week. The hotel is a lot of fun. The lobby is like stepping back in time with old woodworking, marble floors, a fireplace, couches and plenty of space to relax. Every day after skiing, we sat downstairs for happy hour before going to dinner. The rooms were clean and the lady behind the desk... More

This was a wonderful hotel with exceptional service. The price was fair and the fireplace in our room added to the romantic ambiance. It was cozy, comfortable, and worth an extra day's stay. Additional tidbits: Free Parking; short & easy drive to Sugarloaf (hotel provides you with maps, stickers, and more-- if you don't have a car, a Sugarloaf van... More

We drove 10 hours to visit family in Kingfield and booked this "Grand" Hotel for two nights in late September, 2011. The day we arrived was unseasonably warm. We checked in at 4pm. We did not see the "quaintness" of this hotel. It was old and dingy. There were numerous motorcycles in the parking lot directly below our room. We... More

This is an old hotel in the middle of nowhere Maine. It is off the beaten path but WELL worth the trip back in time. The place has a grand old lobby and a great upstairs porch where they serve wine and beer. My buddies and I stumbled upon it while on a ride up to Canada and it was... More

My preference for lodging is a historical inn or bed and breakfast but rarely can I afford to stay in one but no worry about the pocketbook here at the Herbert. I was a guest at a wedding at a farm located in Kingsfield, Maine where the Herbert Grand is located. This venue was chosen for out of town guest... More

The Herbert Grand is a wonderful old building. The veranda is a great spot to sit and relax. Our stay was very comfortable. This is not a luxurious hotel, but if you appreciate historical buildings, you will love it here. Note that there is no elevator. More

Never having been to Kingfileld before, we came upon this hotel on Main Street and for some reason we were drawn to the characteristics of this particular hotel from the outside. Upon entering, we realized the history in this building and how inviting it looked. Our front desk clerk was exceptionally friendly and helpful and soon we realized that she... More

An affordable historic hotel just 15 miles from Sugarloaf USA, the Herbert Grand is a very cozy way to rest up before for your day of skiing and riding on the mountain. Ms. Dawn, the proprietor's mother is wonderful and welcoming. She she's often on staff to greet and check in guests. The hotel has a roomy yet cozy lobby... More

We stayed at the Herbert as a last minute overnight trip to the mountain for skiing & riding. The Herbert is only a short 15 minute straight shot to Sugarloaf making it quite convenient if your not staying mountain side. Dawn was extremely helpful with our arrangements and getting us the best possible deal/rate. Although the Herbert is outdated (renovations/updates... More
