We had the entire Rene Cottage for a few nights. The location was great; having the plantation right there to explore after the tour bus bonanza is over everyday is awesome. We did have a hiccup when we were told we couldn't walk the grounds without buying a tour ticket. The tour guide was pretty aggressive with us and basically... More

they skimp out in obvious ways; their pre prepared meals are not worth the $$$ tv's need updating and could use one in the bedroom as well the bath robes are laughable needs painting the main house is pretty uneventful there little to no history about the slaves a black woman in our tour asked about it and was told... I don't know if I can sum this up with just saying it takes you back in time, but this is the best statement I can give you. When you drive up to the plantation the Mississippi River is just in front of the house and there is a walkway, surrounded by a few hundred year old live oaks (impressive).... More

In May 2012 on the way home from an extended road and out of country trip we stayed at three Louisiana Plantation B&Bs along river road in the Baton Rouge area. We spent one night each in Oak Alley Plantation, Nottoway Plantation and Bocage Plantation. I will deal with each separately in order to give each a review subject title.... More

Stayed overnight in Cottage #4. Comfortable and quiet. Had the room service evening meal (Sunday night) of gumbo and salad and it was filling. They aren't kidding when they say there is nothing open anywhere nearby on Sunday night. Order the room service in advance or bring your own meal. Wandering the grounds in the evening after all the other... More

We visited Oak Alley Plantation during our visit to NOLA. The tour was ok, but the views were amazing. It's so nice to just walk around these beautiful grounds and stop for lunch.

If you have the time and transport it is well worth the experience to stay at Oak Alley in one of their cottages. The plantation house and grounds are enjoyed by all who go to visit but it is a unique experience to stay to enjoy the tranquility and charm of this Louisiana plantation. We were delighted with our choice... More

Nothing exudes southern charm like a plantation house along the Mississippi River. But one must remember that this elegance came about via the hard work of slaves. Oak Alley does a good job to make sure this point is not overlooked as you appreciate the splendor of the plantation. The foundation is currently undergoing some renovations to recreate the slave... I'm a lover of photography, so if you visit for no other reason than to take pictures, it's worth the trip. The Oaks themselves are incredible and the grounds are beautifully maintained. The main house was definitely interesting- you could feel the history there- but the tour was somewhat lackluster. (While I do commend them for hiring theatrical highschoolers who... More
