Our friends had arranged for two couples to stay at the Madewood Plantation as part of a week long trip to NOLA. We arrived there on a Wednesday and were warmly greeted upon arrival. The four of us were the only guests mid-week and we had a lovely time! The rooms were great and we loved the wine/cheese service in... More

Madewood Plantation was built years before the Cival War by Thomas Bryan Pugh who came from North Carolina as a young man in the early 1800's. In May, 29 Pugh cousins rented the entire plantation for a family reunion. We gathered at 6 pm in the parlor for wine and cheese, family photos, and retelling Pugh family history. After an... More

Madewood was delighted to welcome members of the Pugh family back to Bayou Lafourche and the beautiful home that Thomas Pugh built. It was exciting for us to hear wonderful stories and learn more of the family history that we can impart to our overnight guests at Madewood. We strive to keep Madewood a family home, as it was in... Gathered with cousins for a 50th Birthday celebration, spent one night in the Mystery Lady Room, wished we could have stayed longer! The owner Keith was friendly and wonderful, the home beautiful, clean, and comfortable. The meals were sooooo good, both served one course at a time, plantation style! After dinner they even presented us with a birthday cake for... More

While hosting a wedding Rehearsal Dinner at Madewood, we chose to stay at the wonderful old Plantation Home for the weekend. It was one of the best ideas we've ever had. As soon as one walks upon the grounds, one is taken back in time to a genteel era. The home is gorgeous and authentic. Although the manor is majestic... More

Before booking your stay at Madewood Plantation, you MUST read this. Our experience there was terrible. (If you don't have time to read the whole review, just see the attached photos. You‘ll be glad you did.) We arrived for check-in at 4:30pm on a Monday (April 30, 2012). We were shown the parlor and dining room then our host looked... More

I really don't know where to begin. Perhaps with my amazement that a staffer at this revered travel website would create and post a review headline that is not only offensive and incorrect, but also violates the site's own guidelines about what can be posted on its family-friendly pages . . . or with the reviewer's photographs, which don't match... We recently spent the night at Madewood and it was wonderful. The dinner and breakfast were excellent. We met the owners who are very hospitable. Dinner and then drinks in the parlor afterward made for excellent conversation with other guests. Dinner was relaxed and moved at a slow pace which allowed us the time to get to talk and know... The Madewood Plantation House is a lovely place to stay in Plantation Country. Our room, the Mystery Lady Room, was spacious, and, though it had a small bathroom, it was excellent for the three of us (two adults and a 13-year old son). There is a beautiful balcony overlooking the garden in the common area. Before dinner, there is a... More

Perhaps the fact that I haven't stayed in a B&B for many years, or just reading the glowing reviews here, set me up for disappointment. We stayed in the Master Bedroom. When I tried to step out onto the veranda (one of the reasons we'd splurged for that room), I found nests of yellow jackets around the shutters, wasps flying... More

Two separate but consecutive reviews (see above: Old world living in a stately home) by two couples staying at Madewood the same night read like A Tale of Two Cities. We were delighted to welcome this reviewer when they drove up in their motor home (which we allow guests to park on the adjacent pasture) as they were so excited... More

I might be back home in Dallas, but I left my heart at Madewood. I've been places and I've seen things, yet no vacation or hotel has ever compared to the gracious way of life that was so excellently and elegantly presented to me by the staff and proprietor of Madewood Plantation--not even the Hotel de Crillon in Paris. An... More

My wife and I just returned from a Valentine's weekend at Madewood. The experience was beyond anything that I could imagine at this type of venue. Kieth Marshall was the consummate host. Every detail was taken care of. The staff was superb. The meals were excellent. A very enjoyable weekend. I would highly recommend this to anyone who has an... More
