Formerly the original stagecoach and railroad stop for the Amana Colonies, Die Heimet captured for us the history and atmosphere of the colonies. Our room was charming, and we loved the old photographs throughout the common areas. (Even at work, the Amanans were a photogenic people.)
Joy and Ron were personable, excellent hosts. Their knowledge of the area and its...

This B&B was just okay. Room very small and bathroom needed some updating. It was a turn off when the door you exited was DIRTY! Now that is tacky! Some tender lovin' care is what this place needs, inside and out... Best part was the breakfast.
What a fantastic place! This was my first trip to the Cedar Rapids area and I had the privilege of staying with Joy and Ron at Die Heimat. The customer service and friendliness of the proprietors was second to none. The breakfast’s were terrific and filling and of course the rooms were quiet and comfortable. I noticed most of if...

My husband took me to this lovely Bed & Breakfast for a romantic, birthday getaway. We were so pleased with the whole experience. The Inn is a clean, cozy, comfortable place to be. Joy and Ron could not be nicer. Concluded our weekend with a two hour long visit with them learning about the area, their experiences and generally getting...

My fiancé and I had a great time at Die Hiemat! The service was outstanding, the breakfast delicious and at a good spot to visit the fabulous Amana Colonies. Highly recommend!
I made plans to visit my daughter for parents weekend at the last minute. All places in Iowa City and Coralville were sold out except for one that had terrible reviews (bed bugs - ugh!) and jacked up prices. This little inn was really comfortable and about a 25 minute easy drive to Iowa City. Really very nice for a...

The innkeepers were lovely. They have only had this property a few months so are still finding their way. Would have loved to have had a more welcoming common area as the room was a bit claustrophobic...nowhere to read quietly or watch tv while the spouse was sleeping. Breakfast was sufficient though not a typical German generous breakfast. No water...

Die Heimat, depending on the source consulted, has various interpretations, including 'home' and 'homeland'. Our two-day stay at Die Heimat in late August wasn't just like home, but it was close enough. Although renovated back in 1962, the Die Heimat Inn has a history dating back to the 1850s, and sometimes it shows (old woodworking, deadbolts, occasional creaking floor, etc.)...

This was our first time at a B & B. The Inn was very well maintained. The breakfast was wonderful, except that I wish it had a longer time frame. Breakfast is served from 8 to 9 and sometimes a person would like to sleep in a little longer than that. The bathroom was pretty small but we didn't have...
