This hotel ROCKS! this historic old property is a gem of a property! the rooms are trendy yet comfortable- i cannot believe this is in Dubuque. If you are on business or leisure- you gotta stay! The fitness center and Pool are the best in the area- almost SPA like... more

This hotel has just went through a complete remodel which was a few million dollars in restoration. The lobby was restored back to its original grandeur with beautiful woodwork everywhere. We're just driving down the beautiful scenic river roads from Minnesota enjoying the spectacular fall colors, and we land in Dubuque. My husband and I booked the Hotel Julien's introductory rate room for a one night stay in mid-July. I am handicapped so we needed a walk-in shower in our suite. Bathroom was very handicapped accessible and large, which was very nice. Clean, comfortable, large suite, big screen TV, snacks and wine available (for $$). Extremely quiet, no disturbances. High quality linens and towels, plenty of hot water at high pressure. In a word: wow! The Hotel Julien is currently undergoing a $30 million renovation from top to bottom, and they have spared no expense. The rooms are exquisite, very tastefully decorated and completely redone. The new beds are plush and stocked full of pillows.
