We wanted to visit the capitol and needed a place to stay. From the moment we set foot on the grounds we felt right at home. We were welcomed in and given a tour of the whole house and its history. Doug and Rosalie went out of their way to give us a pleasant stay. They told us about a... More

My husband and I stayed overnight at The Flagg Farmstead as we traveled home from a short trip. When we arrived Doug showed us around the beautiful house while telling us some of it's history. We stayed in the Cornelius Flagg room which was decorated very nice. The bed was very comfortable with nice linens and the room was immaculate. The... More

We actually stayed at the Flagg Farmstead in April 2009 and we loved it! We are just now completing the review because we did not have a tripadvisor account back then and we recently stayed at another bed n breakfast in south carolina, which made us remember our pleasant stay in Illinois. The breakfast was delicious! Everything was very clean... More

Bed and breakfast owned by delightful couple. You are treated as guests in their home. Breakfasts were excellent. Quiet rural setting. Will return when next visiting Springfield. Free passes to Lincoln Museum a nice touch. More

Spent 3 nights at Doug & Rosalie's Flagg Farmstead while the days were spent seeing the Land of Lincoln at New Salem and Springfield. Could not have chosen a better location for our day trips. Their home is furnished with wonderful antiques and is truly lovely. They are most gracious and welcoming hosts. Breakfasts are a treat served in their... More

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights. Doug and Rosalie made you feel very welcome and the beautiful home is very inviting. The beds have the most amazing sheets I've ever slept in (need to buy some). Coffee on the porch swing and truly the most wonderful breakfast you can have! Looking forward to returning! More

My husband and I chose the Flagg Farmstead for a mid-October three night getaway. We couldn't have planned better! Doug and Rose were the perfect hosts. The home is exceptional, the location ideal, the breakfast superb! Spingfield and New Salem with all the historical sites were so close by, and Doug's directions and advice such time savers. There's so much... More

we were made to feel really welcome at the farmstead after a long drive down Route 66 from Chicago and the breakfast the next morning was one of the best we had whilst on our holiday. For a bit of local colour, go down to The Final Four Sports Bar & Grill...... More

If you would like to stay in a beautifully restored Italianate brick farmhouse with kind and welcoming hosts who serve a delicious breakfast, this is the place!!!! Close to many Lincoln attractions in Springfield yet in the country, this was the perfect base for our family. We were in Sherman for a wedding and between wedding events and visits to... More

What a wonderful house. we booked this on the internet hoping to experience some local flavour & get away from the corporate hotels on our trip & we are glad we booked. The house has been kept in a lovely period style & Doug advised us the entire 1st floor was original, all period fittings etc but kept to a... More
