As a former customer service trainer, I'm always observing customer experiences. The Downtown Chicago Red Roof definitely earns an A+! Since I started my current job a year ago, I'm back and forth to Chicago often. We stay at the Downtown Red Roof for the value and the proximity to our office. The staff has always been extremely friendly and... More

Yes, this hotel is in a good downtown location, but the rooms are tiny, depressing, and less than clean. If it hadn't been 11:00 PM, and if our car hadn't already been taken away by the valet, we would have walked out. We did request (and get) a less smoky smelling room which helped somewhat. We decided to make the... More

Chicago's Red Roof Inn is in a great neighborhood, one block from the Mag. Mile and about four blocks north of the river. Rooms are basic, but clean, and have an in-room coffee set-up (which my friends at a far more expensive Chicago hotel didn't have). The staff is absolutely wonderful and very knowledgeable; and the price is definitely affordable.... More

I sincerely appreciate your review and thank you for telling everyone about your recent stay. I am always glad when a guest has a positive experience and wants to share it. Our rooms are pretty basic since we are an economy hotel and you do not pay for a lot of frills. As you noted, we are definitely affordable, especially... More

Dear Vemol, Thank you for your comments and review. I do apologize that your stay was not an entirely pleasant one. We certainly are responsible for a pleasant scent in our rooms, but we are challenged with the size of our rooms. Our building is nearly 100 years old and many of our standard rooms are small when compared to... More

I always look for the best bargain and location and am not picky, but we found the room to be very depressing and outdated. The wall paper had a panel feel with dark redish carpet. The pictures people have posted give a good view of what they looked like. When we found sugar ants marching a piece of popcorn around... More

Dear Sphess, Thank you for taking your valuable time to write a review about your stay. Your feedback is very important to me. Our guests are valued customers and I truly listen to what they have to say. I especially liked your comment about the popcorn and your sense of humor. The location of the hotel is the main reason i picked it and it didn't let me down, it is right in the middle of everything and is still quiet, there is a hospital on the next block so sometimes i did hear the sirens but they weren't much of a hassle at all. The price i paid was also... More

I went to the Red Roof Inn with pretty low expectations, but my budget didn't allow for anything else. I was pleasantly surprised by the great location and friendly staff. The room was simple but adequate - and let me say again how pleased I was with the location. I was able to get around much of downtown by foot... More

This hotel in the Magnificient Mile section of Chicago is in a perfect place to visit quite a few tourist places by walking with a major shopping street just around the corner. The no frills room was small but clean and everything worked. A good value for the money. If you want to nitpick: there was no place for luggage... More

Having never been to a Red Roof Inn before, I expected something along the line of the UKs Travelodge or Premier Inn chain - a simply appointed room with the basic amenities anyone would need. And to be fair, I got that. Except, unlike travelodge/Premiere Inn, this place was scruffy, smelly, dated and, in parts, downright dirty. The coridoors were... More

Our first allocated room 1616 was awful. It stank and the air con machine sounded like a large truck or tractor, and found bits of food all over the carpet. We went streight down in the very slow lift to ask if it was possible to change rooms, to find that many of our party of 48 were complaining too!... More

I do apologize your stay did not meet your expectations and that you had issues with your first room. Our housekeepers' duties include cleaning the room properly and ensuring it has a pleasant scent. They must also check that all of the equipment in the room, including the air conditioner, is in good working order. Room 1616 should not have... More
