The Palmer House was one of the first few Chicago hotels we visited back in 1997. I was amazed and somewhat awed by the decor, from the decorated ceiling to the light fixtures and more. Since then we have returned many times over the years. Why? - To once again visit this awesome property that despite the years have retained... More

I stayed at Palmer House for four nights last July and I thought it was great. We stayed in a twin room and were pretty surprised by the size of it. It was huge. The hotel lobby is fantastic, the most beautiful I have ever seen. The location is exellent. There was no breakfast in the hotel rate, and the... More

I stayed here in the past for a work conference, so I decided to book a room again for a pleasure trip to Chicago because I received a special room rate offer through Amtrak. We stayed 4 nights. Our reservation said we had a room with a king bed, but upon checking in we were switched to a room that... More

Dear Guest, I apologize that your visit at the Palmer House was not so pleasing. I also apologize for all the inconvenience you experienced. You should have received your king-size bed just as you requested. Majority of the amenities you mentioned are complimentary for Gold and Diamond Hilton members. Thank you for taking the time to share your review. We... More

I stayed in this hotel for a conference. It was easy to get to from O'hare. Just go to the CTA train station in O'Hare. Please bring exact change of $2.25 for ticket since the machines do not give change. Get a ticket and go on the blue route and get down at the Monroe station in downtown, walk three... More

We stayed at Palmer House the week after Christmas. It was beautiful! I have read other reviews saying that the rate was expensive. We had a very good rate that was inline (or a bit lower) than most Hilton properties of this class. The staff was helpful for the most part - the front desk check in woman was apparently... More

This hotel is expensive, but the location is great and the lobby is beautiful. You feel like you are back in old time Chicago, with ornate decorations and a unique ceiling. The restaurant and bar were both quite good, with interesting food and Chicago themes. Very expensive though. My friend and I enjoyed our room, which was a suite with... More

I've stayed there for a week on a business trip two months ago. The lobby is wonderful as well as the location and that's it. The rest is completely overestimated. Most of the staff, with some exceptions, was not friendly and sometimes even rude. The food of the restaurant at the lobby is ok but overpriced. The room is small... More

We are from England and had a special reason for staying at the Palmer House Hotel as our late (American) mother had worked there as a stenographer and receptionist in the 1930s. We were very happy with our stay there. The staff were efficient and friendly and the rooms were fine. The hotel may be rather old fashioned but, for... More

When you walk into the Palmer House lobby, your jaw will drop. The lobby and other areas are gorgeous and nicely appointed. This is definitely not your average late 20th century cookie cutter hotel! The Palmer House is ideally located for a walking vacation in Chicago. It's just a couple of blocks from The Art Institute and Millenium Park, and... More

I have stayed at the Palmer House several times, mostly with adult friends, but this last trip was with my 11 year old daughter for her birthday. All of my visits have been great. The staff is always helpful, no matter how many people are in line. The bartenders in the lobby were fabulous. The rooms are comfy - mostly... More
