Excellent, unique, one of a kind experience with caring supportive guests who end up “on the trail” as being part of a small community of friends!! Various types of boats for rent, bait for fishing or pontoon for cruising. Relaxed atmosphere, excellent food (Deb, owner, makes sure food fresh and that guests enjoy their meals) and very fun. Can’t beat the view from cabins. We’ll b back as soon as we can!!!!

Always wanted to stay here because its right on the water and looks so quaint and welcoming. Used to stop and get gas an bait here and everyone was just so welcoming. My stay here was not exception. Cabins are very clean and comfortable and well kept. Debbie makes you feel like she is happy you are there. Debbie and her staff are very friendly and helpful. Booked another week this summer!

We routinely use resorts in N Mn to get away from the social issues in the twin cities area. The owner and her staff were wonderful and the prices fair. Did not fish, just boat, explore, swim and visit. We will be back more often providing cabins are available. The only negative I would add ( and it is not a big deal if you know in advance ) is that the website says all you need to bring is towels but in reality you need kitchen supplies such as dish soap, dish towels and scouring pads for pans, etc. Also bath soap and of course shampoo. Paper towels are also necessary to bring. There are no stores nearby to buy such supplies. Charcoal and lighter fluid are not provided either. Bring plenty of personal refreshments such as liquor, beer and pop as although the resort sells it,the prices are not cheap. They have great food at the restaurant. They will put your boat in for you and take it out. Which is nice as their ramp is deeper on one side than the other which makes reloading your boat problematic. I truly look forward to more visits, …

I've been coming here for the last 10 years and it just keeps getting better. The people are so much fun and the atmosphere will make you kick up your feet and relax. The cabins are right on the water and you can catch some seriously nice eatin' fish!

The people here will make your trip amazing. We were headed to Canada to fish but hit a snag. Was advised to go here. After we got there we had lots of trouble. We rented a cabin. Which turned out to be such a blessing. Nice place ,everything we needed. But as we kept encountering troubles with our boat, everyone was overly helpful. Advised us on all the good fishing spots. Helped us with many different problems we had. The little village of the regulars was what made the trip great. We'll definitely be going back here. Fishing was really good. The Lakes around here are so beautiful. The sunsets on the lake were breathtaking. Everyone at Frontier would go out of their way to make sure we were ok and had anything we needed. Forget Canada ;)

The best part of Frontier is the people. Debbie introduced herself to us right off the bat and she cooks an awesome Sunday breakfast! Zach, John and Gary were also amazing. The Ash River is a relaxing place to hop off the grid. Be prepared for very rustic cabins. We stayed in cabin 2 which was originally a train depot and over 100 years old. It could do with some new carpet and a small microwave but having said that we really enjoyed our stay. The food at the bar/restaurant was a very pleasant surprise and I found no reason to cook in the cabin. I would recommend Frontier for anyone looking to hop off the grid and relax!!

My family has stayed here for many many years, this is a getaway second to none! Boats, cabins bar etc etc... The staff are very helpful and never forget any request. Must visit for a nice fishing getaway or just some TLC!
