We arrived in an older model, Mercury sedan. The guard at the gate told me we were at the wrong hotel before asking my name to see if we had reservations. After a long ordeal that never included an apology, we were shown our room. The room was lovely. The bed was supremely comfortable. The shower was roomy enough for... more

I recently stayed here with my family for my mom's 50th Birthday. My Family had 4 rooms. They upgraded my mom to a beautiful Riverview Suite for her Special Birthday Weekend. The views from all the rooms are breathtaking. The standard room is probably the largest I've ever stayed in. The interiors are masterfully decorated and perfectly appointed. We ate... more

The Cloister experience is no question high-end. Restaurants are 5 star and amazing. Service is attentive. Facilities are all beautiful. And they cater well to families and couples alike. Be prepared to spend a lot of money on everything you do, this is not a low cost vacation. But the experience was unique and fun, especially the can't-miss bingo night... more

The place was built for KINGS and we were treated like royalty! Clean as a whistle and every detail thought of...someone was always around to help if you had questions. The grounds were gorgeous and the rooms were amazing! We are looking forward to returning on our own and relaxing even more! The SPA was to die for! more

We spent a week at The Cloiser recently and, based upon what we heard and read of the Cloiser, went with a very high level of expectation. As high as our expectations were, they were overwhelmingly exceeded!! The facilities and grounds are immaculate and inviting, the rooms are spacious and inviting, the staff is incredible to a fault, the dining... more

We loved this place. Rooms were spotless, spacious and very well built. Great activities for the kids, including camps for different ages (my 9 year old went biking one day, sailing the next while my 3 and 6 year olds did things better suited to younger kids). Everyone was very helpful. We stayed in the Cloister, our only gripe would... more

By far the best overall family resort we have been to. We generally prefer Four Seasons Resorts and go out of are way to go to locations where they have hotels but I can say that this was a great hotel. This place has so much character and southern charm.Service was great. Location on the ocean and Sea Isand were... more

I booked my stay a couple of months prior to my visit. Our room was not ready at check-in, which I found a little odd given that we arrived around 4:15 in the afternoon. After waiting for about 30 minutes we inquired about how long it would take for the room to be ready, and were told that it would... more

Beach is nice and quiet away from the beach club which was loaded with teens with alcohol. Our room overlooked the Marsh and was quiet and beautiful. Food was good, service was NOT five star and we were passed over twice so that the employees could take care of members---reminded me of a fraternity for adults and it made me... more

Some would say that The Cloister is an "old world" resort set aside for dignitaries, heads of state, business tycoons and well, the affluent. My expectation was that it would be slightly stuffy and overpriced. I was right about it being pricy but it was not stuffy at all. Everyone we met was very pleasant and kind. The staff at... more
