Because of its unusual status, the Greyfield Inn offers a unique experience for those who enjoy the beauty of nature and an elegant place to stay and eat. The island is a National Wildlife Refuge, and it abounds with wild horses, turkeys, armadillos, alligators, and many types of birds and sea creatures. The main house was previously a private residence,... More

This is a beautiful former home, with an abundance of history. You are well-cared for with full breakfast and dinner and a picnic lunch to enjoy in the dining room or take wherever you choose. The 7 am birding tour is not to be missed. Sunrise over the dunes and the salt marsh is stunning. There's less wildlife in January,... More

We recently spent 2 nights at Greyfields after visiting Charleston & Savannah. It was an enjoyable addition to our trip. We hoped there would be a lot of nature, and there was (great birdwatching, deer, and of course the lovely wild horses, plus lots of empty beaches and pathways for roaming). The house itself is charmingly antique with a huge... More

Greyfield Inn is a one-of-a-kind "bed and breakfast" experience. This was our first trip to both the Inn as well as Cumberland Island and it was a perfect fit for my wife and I. The things we loved about this place included the rich history of the Inn and the island, the food (they provided breakfast, picnic lunch, snacks throughout... More

This was our second trip to Greyfield and Cumberland Island. I was glad to see that things had remained the same. It is one of the most stress free places I have been. Everything is taken care of for you. This island is so unique that we had to share it with our two grown children and their families. One... More

Much of what others have said need not be repeated; this is an amazing place and a very unique experience. Just don't have your expectation level too high. We stayed at a B&B on Amelia Island the night before we took the ferry to Cumberland, and the noticeable difference between the 2 properties (aside from the obvious location and step... More

This place is a special treat. The rate is all inclusive except for alcohol. The rooms are lovely and very clean. The food is delicious. The entire home decor is the way that it was when the Carnegie family lived at Greyfield. The owners have painstakingly preserved the home and grounds. Staying here is like a trip back in time.... For the smart traverler the Greyfield Inn is like no other. Away from TV,phones, cars and traffic, absolute quite and peace of mind. The food is wonderful, the dinner conversation is lively, and the beautiful front porch with two swings and rocking chairs makes the day complete. More

Only 300 people per day are allowed on the 36,000 acres of beautiful Cumberland Island, and that's a large part of what makes Greyfield Inn, the only overnight option to camping on this barrier island, such a special experience. The inn itself is spectacular, a remarkably maintained relic of the Gilded Age that has you living like a Carnegie on... More
