Living near Philadelphia, I have a soft spot for historical places. Safety Harbor Resort & Spa definitely fell into that spot during my recent three day visit. The resort itself contains the charm, mystery, and ambience of history and yet has updated itself to provide modern comfort. It appears that the common areas and corridors have been recently updated with respect to carpet, paint, etc. I was upgraded to a deluxe room prior to my arrival so I can not speak to the condition of standard rooms. However, I can rave about my room which included a balcony overlooking Tampa Bay. The room appeared to be newly renovated and it was clean and insect-free with functioning sliding doors and independent climate-control. And, it was large with a dressing area and two sink vanities. (As I understand from the hotel staff, the standard rooms were "updated" roughly five years ago and the deluxe rooms were "renovated" three years ago.
