There is a certain charm to this place. A relaxed and easy place to stay. The room was clean enough for us, the beds comfortable, the owners super helpful and friendly. The price was right, the location good, and the stay was pleasant. Not the newest, fanciest, or loaded with amenities, but we were left alone to enjoy our vacation... More

My husband and I were planning to spend the new year in the exotic Bahia Honda park. We found this Ed &ellen's online and I booked it in middle December. After paid with credit card via Internet, I called this lodging, just to make sure. Ed I believe, who picked up the call, confirmed me that he can see my... More

I stayed at E&E based on the recommendation of a friend who lives in Key Largo. I read the reviews on TA and was concerned about the things said. As it turned out, my stay was very good. Many of the review comments appeared to be from stays at their other facility further down the Keys. First E&E is nothing... More

This review is Two Parts. First some background. I have stayed at Ed & Ellen's twice in Key Largo, 2007 then the second time this month. Key Largo's accommodations are affordable, clean, a good value and dated while somewhat charming. Ed has a "bubbly" personality with good humor and we had more than one enjoyable conversation. The second part of... More

The reader should know that this guest is seeking a refund for his stay, and his review should be digested in that context. The reader should also know that this guest was staying at our Key Largo property deciding that he wanted to stay here as well. The day before his arrival, he drove down to inspect his accommodation before... More

My husband and I spent two nights at Ed & Ellen's in Key Largo. We didn't have reservations and this was available. Our only other option was to pay $250 a night elsewhere. It was centrally located (about a mile from John Pennekamp State Park where we snorkled) and had a small kitchenette. It was very basic. Since our expections... More

FEB.2011 Stayed for the 4th time at Ed and Ellen's. As always, the duplex was clean...A convenient location for visiting the Keys. The price is unbeatable!! A perfect place to stay for 2-7 people. Quiet side street. Just perfect. We ate our meals at Big Pine Restaurant. The food is excellent, portions generous, and prices quite affordable. Staff very pleasant,... More

I thought that, apart from the furnishings being a bit out of date, the place was fine for the Keys. I didn't see any dirt or coackroaches and the cooking facilities were perfectly adequate. Ed was friendly & helpful. More

I asked Trip Advisor to remove my original review so I could publish updated comments about this property. I stayed there in the summer of 2009. I must report that several weeks after posting my review of Ed & Ellens (Big Pine Key) on Trip Advisor, the managers of the property contacted me directly with a mean-spirited and derogatory letter... I asked TripAdvisor to review this obvious misuse of the review process, but they have failed to respond at all. Therefore I am responding personally to this review. The people in question never once voiced any concern about the property during their stay. Our guests and I did not have any personal interaction beyond the check-in process and exchanging hello's... We made the horrible mistake of going to ed and ellens in Big Pine Key. When we arrived the place was filled with mold, the air conditioning vent was filthy, a dead cockroach was on the open floor, and the shower gave out a mere trickle of water. We told the young lady who showed us the duplex to forget... More

The room looked clean at a glance. Two burners on the stove did'nt work, there was'nt a chair in the room. And last but not least there were cockroachs in the room. I had stayed here one night and tried to check out the next day after I got out of class. When I tried to explain the problem to... More
