The only thing this hotel has going for it is the location right across from the beach. My husband and I have stayed in this hotel a few times because of lack of vacancies of other hotels and lack of funds on our part. One time, we had a room on the fourth floor at the end of the hallway. It was a really windy night and our front door (which wouldn't shut all the way, even when locked) kept slamming against its frame. I woke up numerous times throughout the night thinking that someone was trying to break into the room. The Spyglass also doesn't keep anything stocked in the kitchens and the stove didn't even work in ours. The rooms have very old, worn carpet and they haven't had anyone try to fix the appearance of the rooms. At least other hotels try to appear pretty so that you want to spend some time there.

It smelled. The tiny towels were like sandpaper. And it was pretty hard to sleep with drunks screaming off the terrace below us all night. We're not old people, we like to party too, but this was out of control. There was a liquor bottle sitting in front of the hotel all day, nobody from the staff bothered to pick it up. We checked out and went to The Hilton for $300 a night. We didn't care how much it was, we... more
