What a great stay! We were flying out of Bradley Airport and did not want to stay at the motels out by the airport. This unique hotel was just a short drive away, so we opted to stay in Simsbury. We do not normally stay at historic hotels because I need consistent internet service for my work. When I called,... more

We had a great stay at this historic mansion. We wanted an alternative to the stamped out inpersonal nature of franchise hotels and we were not disappointed. Everything was luxurious - the feather beds and linens, the marble baths, the great historic design, antiques and art, and the friendly innkeeper. There was an extensive complimentary breakfast and the rate was... more

My visit was the weekend of September 10, 2008 I booked the hotel because it was close to the event that I was attending. The inn sits atop a hill and is pleasantly situated away from the very busy Rt. 10. The entryway shows that some tender loving care is needed here. Entering the small lobby the rug is frayed,... more

This hotel is in a beautiful setting. The main house is lovely with a fascinating history but it is becoming quite shabby. We were in the carriage house as we were traveling with our dog. The first room we were given was dusty smelling and the shower had a great deal of black mold. The antiquated air conditioning had not... more

I stayed here for a week while attending a technical certification class. The environment was very quiet and conducive to studying. The bed was comfortable and there was a desk, chair, and sofa in the room. Continental breakfast was somewhat sparse but there is coffee and tea available throughout the day. The wireless internet was fast and reliable, but you... more

The kitchen couln't handle 80 people at my sisters wedding. We offered only 2 choices-you would think even a small kitchen could handle this simple menu. The steak and chicken entrees were not the same offered at a menu tasting pre-wedding. Any chances of being decent were ruined by being airplane style plastic steamer tops placed on all the dishes.... more

We stayed in the Carriage House which was great. The beds were fantastic and the room was large and clean. The bathroom was very nice. I guess this was the only place in the entire complex with 2 beds. We were given a good deal on this room because they had made a mistake with the booking. It was really... more

We booked a stay here (July 2005) because we were in route to Hartford to see the Mark Twain House the next morning. Although it was bearable, the inn was not as nice as we'd hoped it would be. If you plan to travel in the summer, make sure to take Lysol with you. The air conditioner was on when... more

On August 21, 1999, we got married at the Simsbury 1820 house. It was just lovely. We had a small wedding 60 or so guests and many of them stayed at the Inn. The food was beyond fabulous. The rooms beautiful, the staff more than accomodating. We were able to have the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and reception at the... more
