We visited Silvermine Tavern on our honeymoon road trip. What you will find are a beautiful historic house and milieu, charmingly decorated rooms, and most of all, a cultivated super-nice innkeeper. I highly recommend a stay if you’re visiting the state :) More

I noticed that The Innkeeper posted a response to my review that I feel needs further comment, I cannot revise my review and feel strongly enough about the situation that I am posting my response in a separate entry. 1. While in his response the Innkeeper mentions the restaurant being closed and states that they suggest other places in town,... More

We really enjoyed our time staying at the Silvermine Tavern. There is a lot of history surrounding the property and there are many antiques to see throughout. The room we stayed in was comfortable and clean. I liked having the claw foot tub vs. a shower in our room because I felt it added to the whole relaxing, laid back... More

We stopped at the Silvermine Tavern on the way to a family vacation on Cape Cod. We chose this inn because we wanted to visit The Glass House in nearby New Canaan. Frank, the Innkeeper, met us and showed us around. He was friendly and accomodating and provided us with lots of recommendations for restaurants and local attractions. When he... More

The Silvermine Tavern offers an increasingly rare experience of an old building that has not been drained of its character in order to fit the fads of contemporary travellers. This is a unique place where you can feel the ambiance of a previous era whilst enjoying a wonderful reception from Frank Whitman the proprietor. If you want a hotel knee... More

My stay at the Silvermine Tavern was wonderful. I was greeted by Frank at the door when I arrived. He was friendly and informative. I was staying in the area for a tour of the Philip Johnson Glass House and Frank provided me with a book that gave me some great background information before my tour. A welcome packet was... More

Clean room and pleasant proprietor. Located on the river. if stairs are An issue this is not the place. It is a 200 year old property with great charm. There is no bellman for luggage help for those with physical issues and no restaurant on site. Nice fresh continental breakfast with fresh fruit More

We stayed here to get a local flavor of Fairfield County while we were looking to purchase a house in a nearby town. The Silvermine Tavern is beautifully located right on the river - and feels like an old English hotel. We could tell it has been lovingly looked after over the years and that the walls must hold a... We wanted a reasonably priced and not too far out weekend getaway from NYC and Silvermine tavern provided just that. We got a great room with a view of the river, delicious home made continental breakfast, and the inn keeper was extremely helpful with giving us ideas for things to do. The nearby towns of Norwalk and New Canaan provided... More

Silvermine Tavern in Norwalk, CT is and has been a favorite of ours since the 1980’s. (Actually, before that as we grew up around the corner in New Canaan). The quiet pocket of what is known as Silvermine is quaint, overflowing with charm. The Inn itself is quintessential New England next to an ever-flowing waterfall. We are antique buffs and... More
