Perfect during late September when the Aspens are shimmering gold and early snow changes the scenery and melts away within the same afternoon. This lodge is in a beautiful neck of the woods, easy to find, yet also remote. Book it if you like creekside acces, valley sunrises, nearby (across the road) hiking trails, sitting by the woodstove, cooking in... More

Just enjoyed a second stay at Mount Elbert Lodge, this time in the quiet solitude of winter. If you're looking for a simple, peaceful Rocky Mountain retreat that's well away from ski crowds, traffic and noise of any kind, this is your place. Accommodations range from classic log cabins to newer ones, plus the main lodge, which rents either on... More

We began our stay in the Lodge lounging by the cozy fireplace munching on popcorn and sipping tea. Our night in the Mt. Hope room was peaceful, followed by waking to the morning sun through the two east facing windows. Our breakfast was fantastic, enjoyed at the sunny table in the southeast corner of the common room. Since we happened... More

We booked 2 weeks in advance to celebrate our 27th anniversary and even though it was mid week, all the cabins were booked. We stayed in the main 'cabin' attached to the main B&B but it is new with all the conveniences including a jacuzzi tub in the main bath which was great. The dining table faces the mountains with outstanding... More

Love staying at these cabins. They are close to a lot of trails and are quaint and rustic. It is wonderful for a family trip or a romantic one. The inn keepers are very helpful and friendly. If mount elbert is on your list to climb staying here is the best choice. More

Mount Elbert Lodge is a nice little B&B. They have a lot of atmosphere and the place is just cool; tons of books, games and magazines to cure up with in a nice comfy chair. We got a little discount for booking on the phone and at the last moment. The breakfast is a bit skinny - with just the... More

As things had quickly cooled down in Colorado after weeks in the 90s, we decided that camping near Leadville after Labor Day might not be such a good idea. So we checked availability and found that our favorite cabin for this time of year was open for just two nights during the next several weeks and we decided to take... More

As usual the accomodations were wonderfully clean and equipped. The staff was more than friendly and the setting at the base of Mount Elbert is truly "heaven in the backcountry." More
