The hotel is in a great location. Shops are within walking distance. Window views vary. Our view was of the mountain and McDonalds. We were checked in quickly. Various teas, scones and citrus water await guests at the front desk. The elevator is tiny, slow and smells bad. I recommend taking the stairs and enjoying the decor. The rooms have...

Stayed at the Strater in an interconnecting room with my family on our way to see Mesa Verde. The rooms are a bit on the too rustic side for me and felt very cramped. We asked for a rollaway for one of our kids and they provided a blow up mattress on the floor instead given the tight space. The...

I should probably preface this by saying that I generally prefer more modern hotels. That said, I can appreciate the historic charm of the Strater. The common areas are quirky and fun, and the lounge off the lobby is lively and a great place to get a drink and enjoy the entertainment. That being said, our room was quite small,...

I've stayed at this hotel twice in my lifetime. Once as a child, and now many, many years later. The family lore is that we left in the middle of the night because the noise from the saloon was keeping everybody awake. Note to travelers, ask for rooms on the higher 3rd or 4th floors and away from the saloon,...

I stayed at the Strater for two nights on a business trip and it wasn't a good fit. The location on Main Avenue is good and the outside of the building is very pretty. The public spaces and restaurants are really nice and very old timey Victorian feeling. The restaurant staff was lovely and welcoming, the food was good. Breakfast...
