Spent evening of Dec. 11, 2009 in room 201. On check-in I asked for another room as I wanted one with a full ocean view, as we had stayed in 3 years before. I was told there was none other avail, and this was a very nice room with a fireplace and king bed. What a nightmare! Room was AWFUL.... more

Previous reviews say the staff is rude and unhelpful. This was corrected. The staff was extremely helpful, polite & friendly. There is a new building and a old building. You must stay in the new building or you will be staying in a drafty old house with old furnishings. The new building has two size rooms. A +\- 500 sq.... more

We stayed here for two comfortable nights and loved the stunning view from our own balcony of the peaceful and picturesque marina. Had a balcony view room in the new building. Very "cozy" room. Beware the water is not very hot. Not hot enough for a soak in the tub. Also ran out of warm water in the shower one morning. The bed, however, was wonderful! Weather was nice, great location. Poggio had great food. Spa was wonderful! more

When I read the reviews on Tripadvisor.com, the reviews were very mixed I thought. I also had mixed feelings about whether I wanted a room on the older side (I thought perhaps it would be more country, more antique-y) or the newer side. We arrived in Sausalito late in the afternoon, sans reservations! We were delighted to find a room available at the Casa Madrona. So sad. It seems the staff does not care (with the exception of the valet crew, they are great). Cold water, noisy party in next room, inability to explain charges to card, confused and lost...clueless really. That is the only way to explain the staff at the hotel. We will go back to Sausalito, but we will find another place... more
