Arrived in LA very early in the morning after a red-eye flight. Did not sleep on the flight, and at check in, hoped my room would be ready. I stayed on points. This is rated by Marriott as a level "8" which means it took a lot of my points. For that rating I expected much better service. The location of the hotel is one of the best along the beach. It is just a short walk across one street to the beach and the Santa Monica Pier. Tried this hotel on recent business trip, was so disappointed that I actually checked right out. The lobby and rooms and front desk staff feel like a Marriott Courtyard--this is not a JW in a resort setting at all. The pool is cramped, the lobby unfriendly, it is not a great hotel as others suggest. Try the Fairmount instead. more
