I spent 5 days at Rancho Oso in an RV using full hookups. It is a pretty nice setting, sitting between two mountains/hills. I had an uninterrupted view of the mountain. The RVs are tiered so everyone gets a nice view. Showers were hot and clean if somewhat dated. The staff were civil, I wouldn't say they particularly enthused warm... More

Lots of potential but very dated, dirty and sardined in RV spots with no room for kids to play; which was not as bad as the permanent residents that were not very clean nor friendly looking. We had been looking forward to 4 days there and were very disappointed. The ranger however was VERY nice and got us a full... More

Very dated RV resort, needs massive renovation, very overpriced for what you get, lady in office is very grumpy We paid $400 for 2 weeks, overpriced Long drive into Santa Barbara, what you save here compared to other RV resorts in the area you will use in gas driving around Complained about a person with 4 dogs with no leash,... We have been to Rancho Oso probably at least 10 times with friends and every experience has been excellent. We have horse camped at the river sites - dry camping and rustic - and at the Western Village - lots of amenities. The staff has always been very accommodating, the venue is fantastic and watching the deer come into the... More

I went with several other families over Memorial Day weekend to this horsey guest ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley inland from Santa Barbara, near Lake Cachuma. My family stayed in a small travel trailer for rent, another family stayed in a small cabin and two other friends had motor homes. There is also a tent camping area here in... More

3 nights and 4 days camping out at Rancho Oso. These are the things that other reviews didn't mention. We camped in tents, there were 46 of us. Camp sites were very clean, there are showers and restrooms within a very short distance of tent sites. Very quiet. We had critter visits most every night, I.e. foxes, raccoons morning visits... We went to Rancho Oso in April and had a wonderful time. Weather was cool, clear, very nice, no bugs. We went back in mid-September 2011 and could not stay. There are thousands and thousands of flies (small but bigger than gnat-size). We asked at the gate and they said that they are oak tree flies and they come out... More

This was our first trip to Rancho Oso, I was kind of worried reading some of these reviewes about the staff, but as soon as we arrived the man on the gate was so friendly and helpful, had no problems with any of the staff, they all said good morning when we went for our morning walks. My daughter who... More

We stayed here in a RV. First night at the tent sites: didn't sleep: drunk and screaming people, auto alarms, etc. Horrible, not like camping in nature as you would expect. The other nights we moved to the sites with the RV's, and that was nice and quiet. But these sites are very close to each other. The horses are... More

Our Girl Scout Troop went in October. Weather was cool at night but warm during the day. Very empty, no noise from anyone but us. We slept in the covered wagons. 4 per wagon. They are arranged in a circle with a big fire pit in the middle. A hose and trash is close by. They did have grills, but... More
