Paper thin walls. Busy busy busy city street all night. 4am fire alarm. Disinterested staff. Tired rooms and plumbing fixtures - including chipped and stained porcelain in the tub. Old sheets and pillows. More than disappointed. Much nicer and reliable chain hotels in area for comparable price.

I came in early evening on a Tuesday. Traffic, trains and buses had stopped for the night & I was up before they started so I had no noise issues. However, I asked for a quiet room and let them know that I didn't care about the view and that's what I got. Entry to the hotel was quaint. Beautiful... More

Unlike some other reviewers, we found the accommodations in our room facing the Plaza to be just fine. We did have to track down the maid to get towels, however; luckily she was still doing her rounds when we checked in. Walking distance to museums and theaters and some good restaurants downtown. We'll stay there again.

Older hotel right in the heart of San Jose so close to lots of activity, very convenient. I got a room that was closer to the elevator which turned out to be a bit noisy. The in-room air conditioner was too loud and kept cycling on and off so that was a bit of a distraction. My room also faced... More

Wow. Between the air shutting on and off every ten minutes, the train going past our window, the flights overhead, and the regular hotel door shutting neighbor noises, this was just about the noisiest hotel I've ever stayed in. Also, the bathroom was super tiny and while the room was okay, it could use a redo right about now. On... More

We were attending a concert at HP Pavilion, so this was a great location to stay overnight. But the fixtures in the bathroom were dated and the bath tub needed to be replaced. Everything was clean, and the bed was comfortable, but the whole look was old and tired. In addition, when calling the front desk, the phone rings and... More

The location, next to the opera house was why we chose it. Our arrival was normal, the valet parking and front desk were fine and the bags came quickly. The lobby or reception area was a good old-fashioned one, very pleasant, but it went rapidly downhill from there. The room was like a shoebox, but we were there just one... More

this was a fine hotel. its adjacent to famous Original Joes, and also has an iL Fornaio inside it. Its quite an old looking structure (in a good way). Our room was great.

Stayed at the Sainte Claire on a Friday night with late arrival. Asked for and received an inside room since we couldn't risk traffic noise and not getting toi sleep after our late arrival. Beds were comfortable. Two queen beds. Rooms are on the small side. Lobby is nice, front desk staff is good, valet service wqas prompt and check... More
