Pros: I think this was recently converted to a Motel 6 from a Vagabond Inn, and it has some features most Motel 6s don't have. Rooms are fairly large and have a microwave, refrigerator, and a true closet. The shower is pretty good and the head is high enough for a tall person. The furnishings are in good condition (and the TV was healthy), the exterior paint looks recent, and the pool is quite nice (and active with kids on a summer day). Free WiFi. Front desk folks are friendly. The rooms are clean, and the price is low. I could walk to at least 3 restaurants without crossing a street (which are big and busy). Cons: Summer days in Sacramento are very hot (although with low humidity), and the AC takes a long time to cool the room when you get back to it at the end of a day. The room was larger, $30. more per night and had a two-burner stove top. Those were the only extra's of the room. No utensils, no cooking tools, no glassware. I had to purchase all that I needed after I arrived. If I had not been told that it had everything I would need, I could have brought those items I would need from home or stayed in a regular room and saved $30 per night. The security at the motel was more than a joke, the low price of the motel invited "couples" paid 20-minute sessions and friendly encounters by strangers in the parking lot. (if you can't read between the lines, I am referring to prostitution and drug deals) Although the area looked fairly safe, I would highly recommend going out in pairs or 3's as I found near the end of the stay that it was safer that way. I... more
