The rooms are tiny and the TVs sure have about 20 years behind them. The shower was almost too small for a 6'/200lb person, and the closet and the bed should've gone to an antiques shop. However the location is fantastic, and the kitchen is nice. I expected more from the "complimentary breakfast" though. The free wireless internet works well,... More

Our room (119) was infested with bed bugs. I trust they're remedying the situation, but beware. I've stayed there many times, and I generally like the place. But I probably won't again any time soon. Pay no attention to my ratings; I just wanted to mention this issue.

This is the smallest hotel I've ever stayed in. I am literally not sure a fat person would fit into the shower. The decor and amenities are laughably outdated and meager. It has a kitchen and free breakfast if you enjoy bad coffee and frozen pastries. The management, though, was friendly, and this hotel has a quaint charm to it. The... More

The hotel is conveniently located but is so overpriced! The room was very very small. Everything was so old (bed, linens, pillows,13'' tv, AC, furniture). The clearly have not spent any money to update the rooms for a long time. Nevertheless, it was very clean. There is a 24 hours kitchen available to the guest and a basic continental breakfast... Absolutely a total dump - someone in a cafe on University recommended it - so I thought "how bad could it be" - Palo Alto - near Stanford etc - Ugh! It was the sorriest excuse for a hotel I have ever seen - I moved to the Four Seasons as early as I could the next morning!

the manager was rude- He gave me a room where I heard constant noise (a bakery is downtstairs) all night long. . There is an excercise machine in the middle of the cute courtyard- it looks like someone just stuck it out there because there was no where else to put it. I wil not be back

Peter (employee in June 2010) took my reservation for two rooms for five days for our daughter's Stanford graduation and emailed us a confirmation with all the details exactly as we requested. When we called to re-check the reservation and spoke with Peter (different, same-named employee in May 2011), we were told that there was NO RECORD of the reservation... More

The hotel is populated by long term guests, many of them researchers and the like at Stanford. The atmosphere is cordial and many guests socialize in the kitchen. The management is accommodating and the location on a major shopping street is a big plus. There are two caveats -- first, a restaurant on the California Avenue side, one florr down,... More

This hotel is a small and cute little place just down the road from the CalTrain station, and in a great restaurant area. The free buses to Stanford university have nearby stops, and the area is very safe and quiet at night. The mattresses are a little old and the sheets have seen better days, but the place is very... TR reviewers, thanks to you we expected small, charming, clean, convenient and inexpensive, and that's just what we got. Yes, it's on the second floor (and no bell hop - strictly do it yourself), and the rooms are tiny. But interior rooms are quiet, there's a nice shared kitchen with fresh coffee, oranges, cereal and breakfast breads ready - and... More
