The hostel is basic, could do with some updating but the location is the #1 reason to stay here. It's literally right on the Venice boardwalk. Amazing location. The only massive downside is a transsexual cleaner who I caught TWICE watching people shower. He/she saw that I caught them the first time and still went back for more. If you... More

It is the chepeast hostel we found in Venice but it was very nice! The location is just perfect, literaly just on the beach and boardwalk. The rooms are very small but hostel is only for sleeping so it is enough. Bathrooms are clean and OK. There is WI-Fi in whole building. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Like... More

I had previously left a review of the same sun venice beach hostel which was a positive reflection of the new staff who were taking over this hostel. Unfortunately this review highlights bad practice, poor management and terrible customer service. We were using LA as a transit hub in between travelling central america and going to work in New Zealand.... More

We stayed in Venice Beach Cotel a couple of times during our trip to the States. Location is great for Venice. The rooms were freezing in January, but otherwise alright (some better than others). We had mixed feelings about the staff. A couple of people were extremely nice and helpful but then again the rest of the staff (especially a... More

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for 3 nights in January. Firstly it's hard to offer a balanced review as the hostel has just been taken over with new staff and management so any negative feedback is not a reflection on them but the operation they inherited. Pro Great location for Venice, yards from the beach and at the beginning... More

the staff ruined our trip to venice beach, the tall bald man was so rude and snooty he seems to hate people. the cotel was close to all the main spots but was way over priced. the bedrooms were small, wasn't much of a cooking facility there....venice beach at night is very dodgy be careful

Hello, Thanks for your feedback, but we honestly do not have any tall bald men who work at the hostel. So I'm not sure who you are referring too. We are in the process of renovating the kitchen though, so we can definately improve that . Cheers and hope you enjoy California. Pete More

One of the few budget places on the beach! Brilliant if you are exploring Venice Beach and Santa Monica. I stayed in a 4 bed mixed dorm it was clean and comfortable and not too small. Security is good - reception manned 24/7 and you have to prove you are a resident to get buzzed in. Lots of activities for... More

By no means is this the worst place I have stayed however I would not be recommending this place. Yes the location is good, you're literally a few feet away from the main Venice Beach area, however at night I didn't feel particularly safe. My friend and I had been traveling for a few months and this hostel was recommended... More

Stayed in a private room with ensuite - wicked views of the beach. Pub/Bar directly downstairs. This place is the perfect location and price for checking out Venice Beach. Our room was right next to the "bar" however our sleep was not disrupted at all. The rooms were really clean and I was surprised how good the bathroom was too.... More

Excellent location & super fun staff. Two friends & I stayed here in a three person private room - which was a double bed & the third one of us was on a pretty dingy stretcher bed.
