Stayed here for 2 nights. What I love about this place: Hot spring bath - a variety of pools to choose from; The food - freshness of the seafood might not be of the highest quality, but the varieties of food are sufficient. The staff - very helpful, and they have already had my particulars/details readied, just waiting for arrival.... More

We had mixed feelings about the Daiichi Takimotokan. The location is sensational – literally in the crater of a volcano. The hotsprings were great – OK they could use a bit of a face lift, but there is such variety, and they are really clean – we spent a lot of time there. The hotel is enormous and therein lies... I stay at Daiichi Takimotokan for only one night with my friend while we backpacking around Hokkaido. It was very easy to get to from train station, the bus stop is just across the street from the hotel. The staffs were very friendly and understand basic English. We stayed at the South building which has the Japanese style room. The... More

We stayed our last two nights in Hokkaido at the Daiichi Takimotokan in mid February after our skiing holiday to Rusutsu and Niseko. This hotel is a big hot spring resort hotel favoured by many Japanese that has grown and expanded many times over the years. In fact the original resort was opened in 1858. Our room was a traditional... More

We stayed at Daiichi Takimotokan for 2 nights while on our 5 night jaunt through Hokkaido. It was an experience, especially since we had stayed in a Japanese Onsen before. First impressions count. The lobby is grand, but a little dated. We had a local guide that helped us through the registration process and other arrangements, so that was useful... More

I have booked a Honeymoon Package with this hotel only to find that what they stated was on their website was not true. I can't imagine that they actually provided us two single beds for my wife and I when they should have given us a double bed. The reception staff was bad in their attitude when i approach them... Stayed 1 night here. I signed the package of honeymoon package but they give us a single bed rooms and by telling us they don't have double bed room. Before I signed package with them, I had email them about about individual onsen in room and they reply yes but end up they have no individual onsen at room. I'm... More

We stayed at the Daiichi as part pf a one week break in Hokkaido. It was my first time to try out "onsen", and I was a little nervous about the whole thing. I needn’t have been – the onsen at the Daiichi, known as the “Grand Public Baths”, was an amazing experience. Even my other half, who doesn’t normally... More

Went to this place this morning at 11.04am. Here's my bad experience with this place: Tips for travellers who do not speak Japanese: 1) Alight at Noboribetsu JR station 2) Cross the bridge to the other side, where the bus stop is 3) Get a round-trip ticket to Noboribetsu Bus terminal 4) Upon alighting at the bus terminal, walk 5... This is the largest onsen place in Noboribetsu. However, the hotel may be a victim of its size. Service varies as staff has to deal with the great number of tourists and locals checking in. Great for families with young children as they have a swimming pool area with slide to entertain the young ones while the adults soak in... More
