Yes, these rooms are literally old train cars with cupolas that have a spectacular view of the Castle Crags, but the accommodations are a bit tired and worn for the money. The restaurant was closed while we were there, so you need to go to town for food (where there are some great restaurants and a welcoming brew pub). They... More

We arrived late, but the owner made arrangements for us to get in late. We were hardly aware of the surroundings. What fun to sleep in a railroad car at least once in your life! The hot tub was great even though it was freezing outside. The car we were in sloped a little so expect to get cozy in... More

we drive between reno and seattle every year - and always stop here. Dog friendly, great pool, beautiful view and super fun for my son. We actually look forward to the drive now.

Staying in the Caboose Motel was one of the highlights of our road trip. They have done such a great job here. It was a big hit with the kids and Mom & Dad. We had plenty of space in our Caboose with a Queen bed and two twin beds. The beds were clean & comfortable. The setting is beautiful.... More

If you are looking to stay in the Duinsmuir area, this is a great place to be. Most of the accomodations are cabooses that have been turned into charming and quite comfortable rooms. Our beds were very satisfactory. There is a little bit of highway noise, but they ahve stregically placed water features that largely block that sound out. Be... More

We found this place last minute, while looking for a place to stop while on a road trip, and it ended up being one of the highlights of the trip. Our kids still talk about sleeping in a caboose, the swimming pool, the trails and mountain views. Each room is a unique little caboose cabin. The beds are not super... More

This is a wonderful opportunity to stay in a real caboose! If you are at all a train fan this place should not be missed. The cabooses are converted to hotel rooms but much of the original detail remains. We stayed in the Cottonbelt car--the only one with a central cupola. The cupola is still original and has two ladders... More

Went with the husband and brother. Looking for weekend spot to access Mt. Shasta. When I booked I thought, ok, the novelty will carry us far. But it's a really cute place, the grounds are clean and well kept, the pool is a wonderful way to cool off after hiking. And it has a fantastic view of Castle Crags. Very... More

Didn't really know what to expect but pleasantly surprised to find a well equipped caboose with all sorts of interesting nooks and crannies! Lots of wood which made us feel as though we were in a cabin in the woods but then you realise you're actually in a train! A great experience. Not much going on in the resort itself and... More

I can only echo the comments that others have already made. Not only a fun place to stay, but comfortable, too. The caboose had been successfully converted into a conventional, albeit long and rather narrow, motel room. I also liked the location with nice views of Castle Crags and enjoyed the hot tub. Hope to return, but next time boyfriend... More
