We selected this hotel because of an article in Budget Travel Magazine, as the start of a three-day tour through Joshua Tree National Park. I should have been warned when the hotel had neither a web site nor a link on the city's Chamber of Commerce! When we arrived at the property we couldn't even distinguish the entrance, there was no sign for Office and the only gate was locked up tight. We walked around the property and got into the car to drive off when the manager called my cell phone, he apparently had noticed us prowling around. He gave us a tour and we were able to choose whichever of the 16 rooms we wanted. Some had private jacuzzi patios, some had kitchens. We opted for the corner room with a gorgeous view of the valley and mountains. (There was some street noise but we turned on the fan to block it out.) There is a small courtyard with two hot spring pools, plus one interior hot pool, but the courtyard was a mess. Our room was large and kitschy with very art deco turquoise... more
