We stayed here for one night, arriving early evening. At this time the visitors to Columbia had left and we had the town to ourselves. It was really good value for money to stay here a real treat to experience Columbia in the evening and early morning. However there are not very many options to eat out in the town... More

A group of us recently took a car tour to Columbia and stayed at the Fallon Hotel. The hotel was built in the 1800's and was restored by the state of California (as was a large portion of Columbia) as part of a State Park acquisition. The restoration was very well done. Although most of the rooms are quite small... More

Unfortunately we stayed only one night. The room with a balcony was great, the victorian detail in the lights beds and furnishings were great to set the mood for this great theme town. Downstairs one would expect Mark Twain to be reading a newspaper with a grumpy smile. The shared bathroom was unexpectedly pleasant, on with bathrobe and a good... More

This old and historic hotel is located within the historic Gold Rush town of Columbia, California. Nearby are all of the original (and some restored) buildings that were part of this town which grew overnight when gold was found nearby. The hotel is furnished in keeping with its history. Don't expect a TV! The room we had was on the... More

I booked a night here after our ghost tour in Columbia hoping to see ghosts. We didn't experience any paranormal activity, but we still had a very nice stay here. It is wonderfully decorated in period style and furniture. I could imagine it would look just about like this 100 years ago. Our room was one of the petite rooms,... More

I agree with most everything the other reviewers have said. I had a very small room that did not include a balcony and I wouldn't want to have spent much more than sleep time there but it so completed the fun and atmosphere of stepping back to the 1850's gold rush period and being able to take your time wondering... It is a step back in time being in Columbia. We would recommend this place however for a day trip rather than a longer stay. As for the hotel, it does fit in the whole athmosphere, and it is charming, however the room we had was very small, so really you would not want to spend there more time than... More

Every year my family and I come to Columbia to enjoy this "working gold town". We stayed at the Fallon this year (quieter than the City Hotel, but owned by same people) and love this place! The rooms at the Fallon are very large (some with balconies) and clean. We stayed in room 1 which overlooks Washington Street and the... More

Columbia State Historic Park is a wonderful step back in time to the days of the Wells Fargo stage coach and the original 49ers. While visiting the area, the Fallon Hotel is a great place to stay to truly evoke the time period. It is part of the historic park. The rooms are clean and very basic as they were... More

Fallon House was an excellent addition to round out our historical experience in Colubmia. The shared shower system didn't bother us, considering we had just been camping for the past 3 days. The room was quaint, but comfortable; and the balcony was nice to relax and pretend we were back in the time of stagecoaches and little red school houses.... More
