This place is amazing and the owners Barney and Kathleen could not have made us more welcome. We stayed in the barn suite and found this excellent and peaceful. Barney gave us a tour around and introduced us to Freckles and Mighty the horses. They were very helpful with places to visit and places to eat and even recommended things... More

My wife and I stayed with Kathy and Barney as part of our Yosemite swing during a 10-day trip to Northern California in October 2011. What a wonderful place to stay! Our only regret is that we just there for one night. We stayed in the Guest House, which was very private and gave us all the room we could... More

We spent three weeks touring northern California and without a doubt the highlight was our stay with Kathy and Barney at Rancho Bernardo. We have stayed in many bed and breakfasts and this is one of the best. The accommodation in the Barn was wonderful, reflecting the surroundings perfectly. If you like peace and quiet surrounded by animals and beautiful... More

The only bad thing about our stay at Rancho Bernardo was that we only stayed for three nights: we'd loved to have stayed longer. It was one of the best places to stay on our California road trip. We stayed here as that we could day trip to Yosemite National Park. It is about an hour from the Park but... More

Rancho Bernardo is run by the most charming of hosts, Kathleen, a gifted cook and delightful breakfast companion, and Barney, an elderly and charming conversationalist with many stories of local life in California. The breakfast consisted of wonderful locally grown fruit and vegetables, breads, pastries, and fresh coffees and juices, and delicious bacon. It was a feast. The accommodations were... More

After completing a 40 mile backpacking trip in the High Sierra Camps of Yosemite, we landed upon this JEWEL of a B & B on a quiet, picturesque ranch. We stayed in the barn! This is a charming, private, large room with kitchen/bathroom, that is actually part of a big red barn that also houses a few stunning horses... My... More

This was our first encounter with a Bed and Breakfast. The location is wonderful and the accommodations are 1st class. The owners, Kathy & Barney, are the dream couple for this business. Friendly, outgoing, and engaging; they were a joy to meet and hard to part with.

After a day trip at Yosemite we stayed at the Rancho Bernardo B&B. The room was outstanding. Set in a beautiful location on a ranch it seems like you have the entire place to yourself. As great as the room was, breakfast with Barney and Kathy was even better. Kathy is an amazing cook and we both were stuffed. Their... More

What a beautiful CA country setting for a relaxing stay near Yosemite National Park! Make sure you come hungry to the gourmet breakfast that Kathleen prepares-it is such a treat. It was so enjoyable conversing around the table that we almost forgot that we needed to get going to see Yosemite. Please treat yourself to these wonderful accommodations and wonderful... More
