“Old and tired” is the only way to describe the Carmel Village Inn. The images on its website are extremely misleading. The walls of the rooms are dirty and the paint is chipped; the furniture is old, scuffed and marred; the 1960-era aluminum window frames are corroded (when I went to open the window in the bedroom, the handle fell... The flowers and gardens give a very favourable first impression of this motel. From the outside a desirable motel. Unfortunately our room was a little tired inside. That said the room was clean with a good sized bed. Free wifi. A good breakfast choice. Friendly staff.

Perfect location at the edge of Carmel, in walking distance of everything! Clean rooms, slightly dated and motel-style (the people above us clomped around a bit but that could be alleviated by staying on the top floor). Great value as we wanted two beds and got two twins (don't see that much!) which was perfectly adequate (and well-priced). Free included... More

The people were nice, but this is an extremely average place..location too far to walk to the town or beach and rooms not large or nice. just plain. The service though is quite good. Other places, closer to town and beach were far nicer and spacious and even cheaper!

Positioned perfectly for a visit to carmel by the sea. This place is cheaper and therefor not the best hotel i've ever stayed in but that's what you get. Don't get me wrong, i loved it. I was right where i wanted to be, walking distance from the beach, shopping, and food. All for a little less than everywhere else.... More

This is a very adequate hotel right at the beginning of the Carmel Village and at a bargin price. The rooms are very dated and the furniture is old, however, the place is very clean. The beds a very comfy and the linens excellent. This is a no frills place that wont set you back. The contentinal breakfast has quiche... More

There are excellent prices to be had if you shop around and the $79 we ended up paying for this room was an absolute bargain. Its central the rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, parking's free and it even included breakfast for us both. Our only suggestion would be to avoid room 7 as it's very close to the... More

Not worth the price on a holiday weekend... Check your windows! One of ours didn't lock and the other didn't even CLOSE! Handle was broken so you could just pull on it to open from outside! Plus for smokers is a nice partially enclosed (see photo showing shade umbrella on this site) patio with chairs and ash trays across from... More

The Village Inn is on the corner of Ocean & Junipero and you can walk anywhere in town. One of the problems with this charming town is the aging hotels. This is an older hotel that could use a major renovation. The rooms could use updating, but I'm sure that we wouldn't have found the rates we enjoyed. The staff... More

This is a good motel if you want to stay in the town center of Carmel, but the rooms are very small and not that clean. Moreover it is located directly on the street so you don't feel very save. The breakfast was very bad, but compared to the room rates of other Carmel's accomodations it is a good deal.... More
