this is a very beautiful location and a very beautiful building! it's also very affordable! the only drawbacks are the furnishings. really kind of cheap and tacky. i mean, really...a faux fireplace/heater? and that's just the start. also the booking process is LAME. i booked a room over the phone and then they called back the next day to say... My wife and I spent a weekend here with a group of friends. We loved it! Cozy cottages nestled among eucalyptus trees overlooking the sea. Friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Clean bathrooms. Nice continental breakfast delivered to our room in the morning. Plus it's just a short walk into town and the beach. We'll definitely be back to Monarch Cove Inn.... More

The setting is great. We stayed in the Ocean View room and indeed the view was great. The room was large and well appointed and comfortable. I have a couple of suggestions. One is the pathway from the office/parking to the rooms. There is one place where the concrete sticks up and I tripped and fell coming back from dinner.... More

We stayed at the Monarch Cove Inn following a family wedding which was hosted there. As other reviewers have mentioned, the views from this location are very pretty, so it is definitely a nice place to host a wedding. The rooms are a bit worn, and there is only one (full?) bed per room. Considering the one bed and the... More

Great location slightly isolated from the crazy parking at the beach. But beach is not too far away, via a nice walk on a bluff. Lovely staff, ample parking, good breakfast delivered to your room. We stayed in the Ocean View room, which was often fogged in, but still just a gem.

We stayed at the Monarch Cove Inn for my 50th bday. We got a complimentary bottle of wine when we arrived. We were threre on a Thursday which meant it was not busy and we felt we had the whole place to ourselves. We hung out on our porch and in the lovely garden. We walked to New Brighton State... More

I'm at the Monarch Cove Inn enough to call it my second home. It was built in the late 1800's and its cozy charm reflects this. Each room has its own color theme and fireplace electric heater. An assortment of butterfly knickknacks and paintings are all over the property. Breakfast is served in the room each morning. Capitola Village is... More

There is a nice view of the ocean from the property, but that is about the only positive thing I can say. The 2 bedroom cottage we stayed in was very run-down. The carpets were dirty, paint is peeling, and furniture is worn. The bathroom is dark and tub is in poor shape. Also, the rooms smelled of mildew. I... More

The only good thing about this place is the location and the view. We stayed in one of the best rooms the Ocean View Room with indeed a stunning view. The room was furnished with flea market furniture. The mattress was soft, the room dirty, a big gap under the entrance door causing a draft when you were inside the... More
