Well the snow is just as good. Black Diamond Lodge is super close proximity to the Niseko resort and not too far from Hirafu (town for food and beer). You'll meet a ton of people at the lodge that are very into their powder and get it morning noon and NIGHT. Awesome guys around the lodge all the time and... More

Great place to stay on a budget in Niseko. Walkable to the lift, then you can ski down to Hilton. Also not far from the shuttle that will take you to main Hirafu village. Decent breakfast in the morning and attached restaurant has good food at reasonable prices. Rooms are spacious and they don't pack people in like sardines -... More

I stayed at BDL last month after checking it out online. I have been to Niseko a few times before but always stayed in the Aussie town of Hirafu on package trips from Tokyo. BDL is definitely more focused on serious skiing/riding than nightlife although there is a lively bar/restaurant where you can meet people to ski with and enjoy... More

Black Diamond lodge is a hostel, there should be no confusing it with a hotel or "lodge" as they describe it. I have no problems staying in a hostel while traveling, in fact hostels are a great way to get some cheap accommodation and meet other travelers. This particular hostel was not cheap, it was overpriced at 6800 Yen per... More

It is about time that I reply to this not so friendly and in many ways false review. I am the owner/operator of Black Diamond LODGE and although I'm very busy in winter I do try to make contact with every staying guest. I remember this group (at least I think it was them), a quiet group who seemed unimpressed... More

We came to the hotel with almost nothing due to snowconditions in frankfurt, and these guys drove us around so that we could get some gear sorted, they also lended us some gear so that we could ski, and helped us out as best they could, since it took 10 days before we got our gear(tip pack skiwear and boots... We spent 4 nights here on a trip around Hokkaido in February. The lodge is very comfortable - a true old school ski lodge. Room was spacious but not super clean. Had plenty of places to hang wet ski gear which is a bonus! A bit of a trek to get to the hill or restauarants in Niseko - but... More

The Black Diamond is family run, warm, homely and friendly. The staff are wonderful, they made us feel very welcome and were always on hand to help with any requests. The owner knows the mountain well and enjoys taking visitors on challenging adventures. The food is fantastic and the ambience wonderful. The rooms are basic but adequate, clean and warm. Would... BDL have ski lodges figured out. The Accommodation itself is relatively basic. Shared shower & bathroom facilities (at least for our room) and relatively small rooms - although this is Japan so no surprise. The rooms are cleaned, you can get fresh towels if you ask and the shower room is large enough for there not to be a cue... More
