I was in Napa and Sonoma doing wine tastings for business purposes and this place is a great escape from stuffier parts of the area. The cabins are quiet, clean but very basic. Do not let that put you off, as this is a place where you have to choose to get involved in the spirit of it. If you're... More

This was the spot after experiencing/enjoying San Francisco and the craziness of city. We spent our first four nights of our vacation falling a sleep to the sounds of the city and each morning being awoke by the banging of garbage trucks at 5am. To wake up here to the sounds of birds singing and a rooster calling the day... More

My husband surprised me with an overnight gateway to the country and I was quite impressed with his find. The ranch is a great escape from the city and the fast paced lifestyle I have been trying to take a break from. This is not a 5 star resort, this is a humble family ranch. They make their own food... The purpose of trip reviews is to help other travelers make an informed decision. i guess I can understand how some guests have become attached to the owners and overlook that the facility is not in good condition. They ARE delightful owners but be aware that all of this property is very, very rustic. I'd compare it to Girl Scout... More

While we appreciate the compliment of our service, reviews like this one, and the one before, are frustrating. We have some very nice units with kitchens and fireplaces, some less expensive units with private baths, also very nice but without the kitchens and fireplaces, and we keep four of the original cabins that Grandpa built 100 years ago so that... We travelled with a large group and thought MHR was a good deal as it included breakfast. My only complaint is that it is rustic - the cabins are the basics. My boyfriend and I are avid campers but it wasn't what we were looking for when on a weekend get-away in Wine country, plus I would prefer my own... More

We are sorry that this couple did not enjoy their stay here. They left very early in the morning, so we were not able to receive this feedback in person. Had they said anything, we could have suggested one of the other levels with a private bath. One happening out of our control was that a swarm of honeybees decided... More

We have been visiting "the ranch" for over a decade now with our family every summer. It is hard to review a place that feels like home and comment on people that have become dear. For our family, the closer to nature we are, the happier we are. When you are at the ranch you are close to nature in... More

If you are looking for a luxurious 5-star spa/wine country getaway. This place is NOT for you. We stumbled upon this little gem this year while planning our vacation to Napa Valley. It is a very charming secluded B&B for those who would like to wonder, explore, and appreciate what nature has to offer. The ranch is little out of... More

I grew up going to a beautiful summer camp and conference center in western Mass. Coming to MHR is like coming home. It's nestled in the hills above Calistoga and all over the grounds there are beautiful views and great walks. The cabins are okay-not great. They're cozy and quaint and clean. But the best part about MHR is how... More

We just had a reunion for 30+ family members ages 1 to 66 at the Mountain Home Ranch and had a great time. We were able to have the entire facility, which was really nice. The food was quite good, with home baked bread and pastries every day, and they really worked with us to accommodate a wide variety of... More

A wonderful place! I stayed at Mountain Home Ranch for a 5-day workshop and will happily return for a vacation. It's nestled among rolling hills and offers a lovely variety of landscapes to wander through and enjoy. The accommodations are simple, clean, and comfortable. The food is scrumptious with plenty of variety for different tastes and dietary needs. I was... More
