Discovered a few years back - stopping for lunch on our way back to Toronto. To realize once home, that the place is well known in TO! Went back last year for long Canadian (early October) Thanksgiving - enchanting: canoeing, long walks in forest adorned with its fall colours; even swimming (brrrr!) Great food (only restaurant, located in main lodge,... More

Fabulous meals in a gorgeous log dining room; delicious coffee, lemonade and scones while relaxing on the stunning wrap-around dining room verandah right on the lake; waking up to the call of the loons and fog rolling off the lake: these are just some of the things we love about this resort. Lunch and dinner include a salad bar with... More

Just came back from 3 days, and had a great time - but not a great enough time to justify the price paid. There's no question the location is great and the food is very good. However the service is just average, and rooms are definitely below average. We enjoyed our time there, and it was a special occassion for... More

All in all, my partner and I enjoyed our stay here. The food, oh the food, is great, especially the desserts. HIGHLIGHTS -food in general, very natural, wholesome and tasty -the coffee was tasty, but a little weak some days -the beautiful lake setting that is generally very quiet -being surrounded by nature -the clientele - there is something very... As a former camper/counselor at Camp Arowhon (somewhat affiliated with the Arowhon Pines), I had always coveted a rare day-off meal at the Pines. It was like an oasis after weeks of eating substandard camp food. Returning last year after a couple decades away, the question remained: Was the food as good as I remembered or was it just good... Anyone who wants to experience the uniqueness of Northern Canadain lakes, together with convenience of being close by to a major outfitter for canoe tripping , will want to spend a few days at Arowhon Pines, a family owned resort for many decades. Superb food served in huge log dining room with prominent fireplace in the middle, by friendly young... More

The food is fantastic, and bring you're own wine makes life simple. I swam off the sizable dock with four iconic loons my first day there. The kayaking and canoeing are excellent in this wilderness resort. And the place is rich in tradition and lore. Staff is multinational and keen to please.

A cliche perhaps but it rings true; heaven is 3 1/2 hours north of Toronto.

We have been visiting Arowhon Pines every year since 1996 with only a couple of exceptions. We go to Arowhon for the quiet, the calm, the amazing food (never disappointed and we are serious foodies) and the wonderful welcome every year. The accommodations are very clean and comfortable and consist of antique furniture and all of the basic necessities. If... More

Arrowhon Pines lets you experience the beautiful wilderness of back-country Algonquin Park within the comfort of a cozy cabin, fireplace and three excellent meals per day. It's located on Big Joe Lake, which is the next lake in as canoeists on multi-day canoe trips make their way up from the Portage store on Canoe Lake. You have to get to... More
