I wanted to experience our great Canadian winter by playing in the snow in Ontario's wilderness. I am so glad that my friends picked the Eco-lodge in Algonquin park this year. The snow was clean and pristine, and luckily, we even saw a deer as we were heading back! It is a great place to do snow-shoeing, and cross-country skiing.... More

I was booked in early March 2012 for a dog sled excursion. As an aside: an interesting observation from reading other peoples comments is that apparently I am not the only one where the Christmas present consisted of a dog sled trip! Anyway, the weather turned out to be perfect: Cold and lots of snow. And I made the trip... More

Set in stunning part of Algonquin Park with walks for miles around and perched in front of a gorgeous lake. It is basic, but we loved it and very friendly staff who looked after us a treat. We relished the early rises to head out in canoes and sit quietly by beaver lodges watching the wildlife emerge. They provided pack... More

For our Fall colours trip this year, we decided on a Photo Workshop held at the Eco-Lodge the last week of September. We had never heard of the Lodge. What we found was a very pleasant retreat tucked along the edge of Algonquin Park. Parking was 2.5k away from the lodge, and the walk in was lovely. On site, there... More

Let me start off saying I enjoyed my stay at the eco-lodge, and had fun while I was there. The main selling point here is location. It's actually inside Algonquin Park, so to get there you need to leave your car (and bag) on the parking lot and walk 2.5 Km. The trail is easy and should not be a... More

We stayed here for two nights in late September and had a great experience. Because it was fall and cold at night, we opted for a lodge instead of camping outdoors. All the lodges I looked at seemed to be for the +60 crowd and very expensive, while Algonquin Eco-lodge had a more rustic and independent feel. The lodge was... More

The lodge is a fantastic place to stay for relaxation and to experience the great outdoors. The walk from the car is very pleasant and manageable with a rucksack. The lodge is really cosy and has everything you need. The staff were really helpful and even lent us a towel as we'd forgotten ours. They are really knowledgable about the... More

This is a beautiful place. It is peaceful, quiet and off the grid. The meals were excellent. If you are looking for a private getaway and relaxation, this is a great place to visit. The meals were all wonderful. Home-made breakfast, lunches packed to go and great dinners. An afternoonsnack would be a nice addition (maybe fruit and cookies?). The... More

Thank you for your review. I'm not sure when you were at the Eco-Lodge, but we were suffiering from the extreme lack of rain earlier. Our water levels (and every one else in Ontario) were down so far that our ability to create our own electricity for the hot water tank was severely limited. That is why we could only... More

The eco lodge is on the edge of the park. You have to leave your car in the parking lot and walk the final 2.3 km. (Bring mosquito spray). It is worth the walk! The lodge is set within the forest, on the edge of a small lake (with very low water levels this summer, so not great for swimming).... More

Thank you for your review. I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay at the Algonquin Eco-Lodge, and I'm happy you got to see the bear swimming across the river! There are a couple of things I would like to point out to future travellers who read this review. And both have to do with the incredible drought we have been... More

If you are looking for a comfortable and cosy lodge with great staff and away from tourist traps, the Eco-Lodge is the place for you. Cars are not allowed here, and there is no cell phone reception or internet - instead, you get a private lake, canoes, a hot tub and a sauna, Santa's fantastic culinary talents and Edgar's humouristic...
