We started our three-week trip to Scotland in the Borders region with our stay at Ancrum Craig and boy did that spoil us for the rest of our trip. I felt like I was on my honeymoon. The scenery, the hospitality, the food, the room, the bed - everything was the best we encountered during our trip. We stayed in... more

Since several years back it has become a family tradition to go on a Autumn-trip to the Borders and to stay at Ancrum Craig. Autumn just would'nt be the same without the beautiful Scottish landscape and the warm, lovely atmosphere at Jill and Johan Hensens exquisite B & B. This time we brought our middle son and his girlfriend. Both... more

Beautiful house with individual rooms, all thoughtfully fitted, lots of antiques. Quiet and comfortable. Excellent breakfast (eggs from own chickens). Lovely views and walk to the top of the hill. Definitely a cut above most B+Bs; we would recommend without reservation. more

On a weekend break I luckily found the Ancrum Craig and couldn't have more happy with my choice. A beautiful building, full of character, but with the all important modern bathroom. Tea and biscuits were served on arrival by Jill, the perfect hostess, who also looked after us for one of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time.... more

We spent two nights at Ancrum Craig during our recent visit to England and Scotland. We stayed in a total of 9 three- or four-star B & B's during our 12 day trip. Ancrum Craig was definitely the most delightful lodging. We were treated royally - with a bedroom to match. Jill greeted us with tea in the lovely visitors'... more

The room was most spacious and well appointed with more than you would require, and the view from the Gold Room window was breathtaking. Cross Keys Pub in Ancrum was a perfect recommendations for the first night, and Burts in Melrose, the second night, was excellent We stayed two nights and found it centrally located for day drives to Kelso,... more

We have just spent 3 wonderful nights at Ancrum Craig. We had the gold room with a spacious bay window looking out onto open countryside. The view was so stunning that we did not close the curtains and woke to beautiful sunrises. We were welcomed with tea and biscuits by the log fire in the drawing room. Breakfasts were carefully... more

As newlyweds, my husband and I stayed at Ancrum Craig over Valentine's weekend this year. We stayed in the Gold Room, which is a huge and beautifully decorated room with a modern bathroom attached. The underfloor heating in the bathroom was a lovely surprise in a house filled with such impressive period features! The Borders was covered in snow when... more

We stayed at Ancrum Craig for a long weekend while attending a wedding nearby. We had a great reception and a lovely room. The open fires in the living room and free wifi were unexpected bonuses. Would thoroughly recommend it - in fact, we've already booked for a group of us to visit at Easter! more
