arrived at the Parador on a Friday night and when booking in the receptionist told me we were getting an upgrade to a superior room. the room had a king size bed, jacuzzi and both rooms were large and comfortable. the lounges are of pure luxury with a log fire and first quality sofas to relax in. on the coffee... We stayed at this converted Spanish castle for a few days, during a road trip from Seville to Oviedo. The parador's exteriors and public rooms are fantastic, and quite historical (this was after all the Emperor Charles V's last stop on his way to retirement at a nearby monastery). Our room was in the extension that was added on when... More

I have very mixed feelings about this hotel. The castle and the entrance to the hotel are very impressive and have lots of character, as does the lounge and balcony overlooking the courtyard. Our room however was disappointing, basic and lacked character. The paint on the walls had been scraped to give what I assume to be an "old feel"... More

I have for several years been looking forward to visit this Parador. And I was not disappointed. The court yard, the common rooms and the garden (with a pool during the summer months) make this hotel just fantastic. When we had dinner sitting in the lovely court yard I nearly felt like the first inhabitant here, Emperor Carlos V! We... More

Stayed here one night driving from Lisbon to Madrid. Stayed at a double room with extra bed. Standard room, not very modern but ok. Excellent breakfast. Impressive building, great atmosphere. Great view. The surrounding town not very interesting.

A typical (!) castle/palace Parador. A great atmosphere to the place. The bar is a little antiseptic (unlike the rest of the property) but the restaurant is in a grand hall. We ate dinner there which was fine but portions were small and the dishes only about average for what is widely available in restaurants in the area. The room... More

When you stay at the Parador in Jarandilla de la Vera, you're basically staying in a castle. A modernised, luxury castle - but the turrets, battlements and thick stone walls leave you in no doubt that this was once a seriously fortified defensive structure. It has an interesting historical past (Charles V, the Holy Roman Emperor, once stayed here in... More

We stayed here with our three children in August and had two rooms next to each other. Unfortunately they don't have connecting rooms so my husband and I had to divy up the children. The castle is just magical looking and very beautiful on the outside. The rooms are standard -- nothing special but certainly not bad. We swam in... More

This is the kind of place you imagine when someone says the word "parador". Our room was in one of the castle towers on the second floor, with narrow windows designed more with military defence in mind than bathing the rooms of a luxury hotel with light. The restaurant is in a nice room, but most people opt for the... More

The castle looks great but the rooms are in an annex. Worth looking and visiting around
