Superb building on the top of a hill overlooking the town. A lovely courtyard in the middle with a chapel and a garden. The views from the Parador are extensive, over the town and the local country side. Its easy to walk down the hill into the town but was a bit of a strain coming back up in the... More

We truly enjoyed our stay at this parador. It is beautiful, pleasant, offers great relaxation and wonderful views. Even the food was good, which is hardly a given, in Spain. For it's price it was good value as well. More

We spent one night at this outstanding Parador and highly recommend a short stay here. The building was full of period furniture and located on a hilltop overlooking the town. Our room was well furnished, very clean and I am puzzled as to why this is only a three star Parador! We had the set evening meal ‘la Mesa day... More

This is an excellent 3 star hotel. Part of a 12 century building, room was a fine size with a large bathroom (both spotless & made up daily). Fantastic views of surroundings, hotel peaceful & quiet. Tried 2 special menus of local cuisine there, both fantastic & great value for money. Service could improve slightly (more smiles needed!) but got... More

The hotel is located 5 min walk away from the town of Alcaniz. The town itself is not worth visiting. There is no old town center except in plaza Mayor where the only thing left is the chatedral. Other than that the city is quite ugly. The parador itself has an average facade, and a small museum that you can... More

You cannot wish for a better location for a hotel. All round views in and a historic building. This should have been a great one night experience which was ruined by a very officious member of staff in reception. Whilst we were waiting to check in, other guests waiting at reception were told in broken english to "be quiet" and... More

Booked 2 rooms direct from the Paradores Website, no problem. A lovely scenic drive from Tarragona to this very picturesque hotel, and afterwards, via beautiful Morella, to Peniscola, Not a lot to do or see in Alcaniz but the seting, comfort and service of the Parador, together with the scenic drive is worth the trip. We paid 129.50 Euros, B... More

We truly loved this carefully restored Parador. We had a lovely room, and yes the soundproofing could be better but all the amenities were very good. The front desk is polite but challenged to speak anything other than heavily accented Spanish but that also makes this an authentic experience. The waitressing staff seem to be on duty night and day... More

We booked into the Parador hoping to enjoy a little luxury for a night with our 3 month old baby. Our room was in the new block attached to the castle ruins. It was clean but fairly uncharismatic. We opened a beer from the mini bar only to find that it had been refilled with water and the cap resealed... More

We just spent a great week touring around a bit of the Spanish countryside. As a treat we had reserved a room at the castle in Alcaniz. Our room was outstanding as we were given a suite in one of the towers; it was 2 levels and the views were incredible. We slept like a King and Queen that night.... More
