I have just returned from a three day break in the Horse & Jockey Hotel and have to say, It amazes me every time I stay there, I find even more things to recommend it. This time we eat all our meals in the Hotel and can honestly say from breakfast to dinner it was flawless and seriousely delicous. If... more

I was truly taken aback, arrived expecting a pub experience. This hotel is just so much better than I had hoped for, excellent accomodation, first class facilities and the most helpful Staff I have encountered for a long time. I travel a lot in my work spending around 30 weeks a year in hotels, I rate the Horse and Jockey... more

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us here. We are delighted to hear that overall your stay was pleasurable and relaxing, as it should be, and that our facilities were to your satisfaction. It was therefore even more disappointing to hear that you were not given access to our pool and leisure area following check-out...

Overall, the hotel was nice. However, we requested a NON SMOKING room but when we arrived in the room it has a smell of stale smoke. When I asked the person at reception about it she assured me that the room is a non smoking room but that the hotel couldn't control who may have been in the room smoking... more

This was our third visit as tourists from Scotland and we rate this hotel extremely highly. We found the recent changes both tasteful and in keeping with modern requirements. However the hotel still manages to retain a traditional feel especially in the bar area so you get the best of both worlds. Tom Egan runs the hotel with a hands-on... more

Stayed in Horse & Jockey with my family for one night. Reception area and leisure complex very impressive. Bedroom not so. Carpet was very stained and there was a large cobweb above the TV. The room smelt fusty and unaired. Just felt the place was a little tired and could do with a good freshen up. However the staff were... more

Myself and my husband plan the occasional weekend away, just the two of us for a bit of "us Time", I have to say the Horse & jockey was an oasis of calm, we arrived late on Friday evening, the restaurant was just closing so we quickly ordered our food, before checking in, it was magnificent, we didn't feel like... more

The room was fine, clean and everything in order and the food was quite nice. The pool area is pretty good too. But somehow this hotel was a let down. There is nothing to do in the area, apart from the leisure center and it is 10 km outside Thurles town so it feels rather like it was built in... more
