Very nice and comfortable room. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Wish all places were like this. This really is a 3-star restaurant with a hotel, but the hotel on itself is worth praise and recommandation.

Very nice and comfortable room. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Wish all places were like this. This really is a 3-star restaurant with a hotel, but the hotel on itself is worth praise and recommandation.
Staff was very helpful, the room very well set.The restaurant was absolutely wonderful. One of my best dining experiences ever. The village is amazingly charming, peaceful, relaxing.i would recommend a one or two night stay to anyone travelling to Salzburg or anywhere nearby.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Our room (junior suite) was HUGE and had lovely antiques. I think you could cartwheel across it. The desk staff were friendly and English speaking. The main attraction here, however, is the chef, Herr Winkler. My husband and I are Foodies, and the 5 course 'chef's menu' meal we had was possibly...

After an exhausting three days in Munich working, sightseeing and doing battle with the appalling Kempinski hotel, we threw ourselves onto the train on Friday afternoon salivating in anticipation of a thoroughly spoiling weekend. After all, Herr Winkler sports 3 Michelin Stars. We were shown to our room on the second floor of the main building - spacious and airy,...

Mr Winkler joined two old houses in a charming Bavarian village forming an elegant setting for diplaying his culinary art and lodging guest in nice quiet accomodations.
The room was large, tastefully furnished in typical German eclectic style with a modern comfortable bathroom.
The Spa with a small indoor pool is very nice and a garden in sunny weather allows...

This review updates my review of this property in December 2006, but very little has changed in Aschau since then.
I have been visiting the Residenz Heinz Winkler since it first opened nearly 20 years ago and have always been charmed by the warm welcome, fabulous food and calm, relaxing atmosphere. But reading some other reviews from first time visitors,...

I came along with friends to enjoy the cusine and stay at the hotel succeedingly. We had booked both a room and table in advance and were warmly greeted when we arrived. The host and staff know very well what they are doing and the service was effortless, in the best way.
Perhaps it was because we were a party...

We stayed and dined here in 2003, so this review is a bit late. But judging by the reviews, little has changed: we found this to be a superb restaurant and very luxurious hotel. We stayed mid-week in October, so there were not many overnight guests. They gave us a huge corner room incorporating one of the (castle) turrets. I...

We stayed at Residenz Heinz Winkler for two nights in June as part of our month trip to Germany, Austria, Budapest, and Prague. We stayed in all 5 star hotels, and this was definitly our biggest disappointment. The word pretentious only starts to describe our experience. Let me preface this with the fact that prior to staying here we stayed...

We stayed in the hotel for 6 nights and had two double floored suite rooms which are on the western side of the hotel in their own quiet corner of only 6-7 rooms and own private garden with a waterfountain and small pond. The views over the mountains are very beautiful.
I have to concur with the previous reviewer about...
