My girlfriend and I spent a weekend at the hotel and found it to be a nice little place just outside of Johannesburg. It is definitely worth checking if you are looking for a peaceful place to recharge your batteries. The location is great with stunning views of the Magalies mountain range from the room. Chech in earlier so as... More

We stayed 1 night, got there for sundowners, amazing views. We didn't like the location of the room and without hesitation we where moved to a room we preferred. Enjoyed some wine on our private patio with a view and took in the silence.

My fiancé and I spent a lovely evening at Maropeng last weekend – the view from the bedroom really is fantastic! The setting and style of the hotel are superb – modern but still with an African flavour. The staff were super friendly and attentive, and helped us set up the Wi-Fi in our room (which is free). We only... More

We went for a weekend break with a voucher which gave us a double for 600 rand. At that price it was good value, though I wouldn't be keen to pay the rack rate of around 1,100 rand ppn. The hotel is in a stunning location in the Cradle of Humankind, and is well designed so every room looks out... More

We stayed there this past weeked on a special deal (room rate R600) and for that price it was very good. I would however not pay the rack rate of R1,800 per night. Staff at the hotel - all good, but they do look a bit shocked to see people and it is as they dont really know what is... More

The comfort of a 4-star hotel in the tranquil peace of the African bush. The staff offer that typical African friendliness, the rooms are comfortable and the quietness is deafening. My only complaint about this hotel is the menu versus the actual food - a tiramisu should at least have coffee in it and should not taste like packet caramel... More

First of all, great views. I stayed at this hotel over Christmas 2011 with my family. When I arrived the hotel was completely empty. Not a lot happening. Later more people arrived but the hotel retained its desolated feel. So excellent of you come to escape from city hectic. Not so suitable for a family with kids. The low point... More

Stayed 1 night as part of a tour. Nice hotel. Friendly staff. Service with a smile. Good food. Nice room. Nice terrrace too, with a sign to watch out for snakes in the high grass, and within walking distance to the Cradle of Mankind visitor’s centre. A visit to this centre is certainly worthwhile.

I went on a teambuilding / goal setting trip with my team and I had mixed feelings about this hotel in terms of my total experience. So I will try to be objective in my review. The element that need to be worked on are practical and can be fixed so I can only hope that they use the feedback... More
