This was a refreshing break from the usual. The lodge is located close to the ocean and the penguins literaly roam around your feet if you get close enough. There are no fences or entry fees or any of this commerial suction to view what nature has to offer. The lodge lends itself to a bohemian atmosphere. I found it... More

Booked to stay 3 nights at boulders beach lodge and wanted to use it as a place to stay while daying day trips into capetown. However, after 1 night in the place, we decided we are unable to stay there for another night Lodge facilities general: It is located at a place where you have direct access to the penguins.... More

Stayed here for 1 night, the place has a location really close to the penguins but that is where the positive ends. We were told we had been upgraded to a better room - the room stank of damp and the bath flooded the room every time we used it, right to the door. When I told reception there was... More

We arrived at around 11.30am straight from the airport to a warm welcome at Reception. Our room was ready (Courtyard 11) and we even had a penguin and her two new born chicks nesting right outside our room in our own secluded courtyard. This is a lovely place to stay for a night or two - of course perfect for... More

Stayed here for a couple of nights as we travelled around the coast. Welcome and staff were friendly. Bedroom clean and comfortable but we felt the room facilities needed updating - particularly the bathroom which could do with a complete refurbishment. There was also no air con/fan or room safe or fridge. Breakfast was delicious - we shared the eggs... More

We stayed for a total of 4 nights during 2 stays on a birding tour. Great location both because of the penguins but also the boardwalk along the ocean and the views. The staff is excellent in the hotel and the restaurant. The food was as good as we expected if a little on the expensive side. The kingclip was... More

Friends visited here several years ago and recommended this but i have to say it must have gone downhill since. It was the most expensive place we stayed in South Africa but was certainly not the best! Room was fusty, bathroom had damp and was grotty, towels were tatty, no tv and the door lock was extremely temperamental. On the... More

We decided to spend our last 3 nights of our trip through South Africa here and we didn't regret it at all! We just showed up and spend the first night in a smaller room, before moving to one bigger room at the back, with a private patio. Good value overall. The restaurant is great, with nice breakfasts and very... More

As part of our honeymoon in South Africa, we stayed here for a few nights over Chirstmas 2010 - and we are so pleased we did! The hotel is located right by the entrance to Boulders Beach so it is brilliant to see the penguins walk by each day (even signs in the car park saying check for Penguins under... More
