The reason for my title is that this hotel is not the usual Doubletree standard. The Doubletree’s I have frequented have all had very nice lavish atriums, some with waterfalls and fountains and above average rooms. This hotel seemed more like a Hampton Inn with a few added touches. I am not surprised to see this was a Days Inn converted to a Doubletree. Makes a lot of sense.
There was a big screw-up with my reservation and my on-line agent booked me in a smoking room, since I am allergic, this would have been a disaster. Luckily as I was going to the car to fetch my reservation, someone cancelled so they placed me in a non-smoking two double room. I had to fight to get on the 2nd floor (they wanted to put me on 1, which as a single female traveling I avoid at all costs). You would think being a Gold VIP would get you somewhere since there were tons of room assignments that hadn’t been given out yet (I could tell from the board). I’m sure they thought I was a total...
