We stayed here one night as part of a 6 night trip to Manu National Park with Inkanatura. This lodge was excellent and comfortable. I would have loved to stay here longer because the location is perfect for trying to spot the huge variety of birds that are only found at this elevation on the eastern slope of the Andes.... More

We visited for one night in mid October as part of the Inkanatura Biotrip. I really hope they consider adding a second night at Cock of the Rock in future trips because it is a wonderful place, especially if you like birds. We saw several Andean Cocks at the lek maintained by the lodge. I wanted to do a bit... More

The COTR Lodge is reached from Cusco in c 8 hours without stopping or 10 to 12 hours with stops and it is worth stopping. The Manu road along which this lodge is situated is not for the faint-hearted as the unsurfaced road is single vehicle width with a few passing places and there is a drop of several hundred... More

I am an independent, avid traveller. I spent two months in Peru in 2010 for birdwatching. For two weeks I "roughed it" as a research assistant in the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve on a ship in the northern Amazon Basin. After this and other travel to bird in various habitats in Peru, and as part of the excellent Manu Road Birding... More

You wouldn't make the long journey on broken dirt roads specially for the accommodation or the food. You come to see species you may not get elsewhere. Colourful tanagers are abundant, hummingbirds are feet away on the feeders, and we saw a couple of the eponymous Cocks of the Rick (though no dance). And Quetzals and Motmots. If CORL is... More

We took a 3 day 2 night trip organized by InkaNaturra to get a flavour of the forrest without going down into the Amazon. Also, the place is nearly mosquito free because of the height. Because of a general strike in Cusco, we had to leave at midnight & arrived there at 9am after taking some non-strike bound side roads.... More

Two friends and I stayed at Cock of the Rock Lodge for 2 nights on our way down into the Amazon. We drove there (with guides) from Cusco which was great. We arrived at the lodge after dark and were met by the owner holding umbrellas and flashlights. The dining/main lodge is comfortable for hanging out (although we were mostly... More

I took my family (wife and two boys 12 and 10) to Peru and this was where we stayed on our first night of a 5 night/6 day tour with Manu Nature Tours. They picked us up at our hotel in a van and we drove over the Andes to the Cock of the Rock Lodge. The roads are narrow... More

Cock of the Rock Lodge was a handsome, comfortable place to stay and made a great base from which to explore the Manu National Park cloud forest. We arranged a peronalized tour because we wanted a three night stay instead of two. Our guide Waldo Maldonado was outstanding -- he knew a lot about the animal life, especially the birds,... More

We stayed at the Cock-of-the-Rock Lodge as the first night in a 10 day Amazon excursion, and it was one of the nicest lodges we stayed in along the way. No electricity in the guest cabins, only candlelight, but hot showers available anytime were welcome (this would prove to be a rare commodity in some other lodges). We asked for... More
