I really enjoyed my stay at Thante Hotel
It is withing walking distance of restaurant row and the Nyang U market
The room is quite nice, and confortable for a midrange hotel. It is in a nice garden with a pool which is enoyable since that part of the country is quite hot.
The staff tryies to be helpful ....

The rooms are huge, everything was nice. The garden area very nice, great to sit out and read there. The pool is a bit murky, and I decided not to go in, but others did and lived through it. Good A/C, bathroom was large, no shower curtain, but didnt really bother me, as it was so large. The breakfast was...

Isolated from other hotels in Nyaung oo so it is very quiet but there are no restaurants around. Adjacent Thande Bakery is just a cake house and meals there cannot be recommended. Also only one horse cart is waiting outside so hard to compare and negotiate price among competitors for Bagan one day ride. I walked from the hotel to Shwejigon...

I booked with the hotel via email and they picked me up complimentary from the airport.
The hotel is a short walk from the main street of Nyaung U and quite easy to find. My room was basic but comfortable. Air conditioner was old-style and a bit noisy, but it did the job.
The large outdoor pool is set in...

I was just passing through Nyaung Oo (Bagan) for a 12hour overnight rest on my way back from rural Chin State, and this place hit the spot.
Check-in was easy and weird like usual here, and the room was quite decent. Spacious, very clean, awkward thoughtless bathroom with unusable bathtub (just don't), approx 8 English TV channels, mini bar, over-sized...

It's all bungalow rooms here, four per building. The interiors could certainly do with a bit of attention but the surroundings can't be beaten. It's very pleasant sitting on your own balcony with a nice garden view, an oasis in Thante Oo.
The staff are very helpful with advice and arrangements. Just be careful with bike hire; you end up...

The location is good, a few minutes walk to the market ,but in order to go to Old Bagan it my be a little far away. For the room, I would say it is not bad for the price, pretty spacious with comfortable beds . However the hot shower was not working well. The breakfast is excellent and this is one...

Contrary to the earlier reviewer, the pool is not something to discount after you've been biking around in 30+ degree heat. It really seals the deal. Good place to rest at midday between expeditions around the ruins.
But contrary to another reviewer, the power supply is, like most places in Burma, hardly dependable. Outtages are frequent, though concentrated during the...

Lonely Planet describes it as “the best midrange comfort in Nyaung U”. If that’s the case, stay in Old Bagan. The hotel has its own generator which is a definite plus, given the frequent power outages. All bungalows are “superior” with a choice of twin or double beds, and have a TV with only one English channel – HBO (the...
