Wow - amazing place to stay for the views. The rooms are standard but the common areas are beautiful. Wonderful fireplace and very large balcony facing the crater. The buffet dinner was nice too. Very nice staff

Having read the varied reviews before going we weren't expecting a great experience. However, not only does the hotel have a stunning view but our room shared it. The room was clean and the bathroom facilities were good. This was once a Government run hotel and is being improved by current owners so I'd rely on more recent reviews of... More

Located on top of the crater wall, it offers fantastic views from the bedrooms an large balcony that sourrounds the dinind and lounge areas. Its a very large hotel, that was probably built in the seventies, with very tall walls, and lots of decorations. Its very cold in there since you are high up the mountains, but what also seemed... Great hotel with the best views in the world. Each room has a glass window the full height & width of the room looking down on the crater. Good food.

This lodge overall was absolutely lovely! Most of the lodges in Tanzania are in stunning locations obviously due to the geography and most have grand entrances and lobby areas. The bar/lounge area is very comfortable with a fireplace for the cooler months. For anyone who is into photography it's worth getting up early for the sunrises here! The terrace runs... More

This was close to average for me, but gets a very good because of the view. The staff were fine. Maybe not as friendly as some smaller lodges, but perfectly welcoming and they greeted us with the usual wet towel and juice drink. The rooms here are small but perfectly adequate - you're really paying for the gorgeous view. We... More

This lodge undoubtedly offers the best view of the crater. Enjoying the sunset on the terrace just at the crater rim certainly is a lifetime experience. All rooms have a view of the crater! Compared with the Serena Lodge (been there in 1998) and the Sopa, the Wildlife Lodge is significantly better located. As for the rooms, baths and the... More

As most others have already noted, the views are about the only good thing about this place. The food is easily some of the worst, most disgusting stuff I've encountered anywhere (and I've travelled quite a bit all over the world). Because they are running off of a generator, the electricity is only on from 5PM-midnight, and 5AM-9AM. This means... More

This hotel embodies everything that I hate about cheap package tour hotels. It felt like they were cost cutting at every chance. No welcome drink, no water in the rooms (I've been in Tanzania for 3 months and this was a first for me!), buffet food which if you have allergies or are vegetarian your options are pretty much limited... I loved the feel of this lodge and the wonderful views. And at the end of the day, that is why you come to this area of the world. All the food is buffet, and nothing to rave about. But what a location! Definitely a special place.
